SHEARER'S DAD BARRED FROM LOCAL CLUB

England Star's Father In Row Over Fruit Machine

ALAN SHEARER'S dad has been barred from his local boozer after getting into a row over a fruit machine. Shearer senior - also called Alan - was drinking in a social club in Gosforth, Newcastle-upon-Tyne when he was involved in a shoving match with 30-year-old Gary Keith.

The police were called to the incident at the Empire Club on Saturday but the row petered out before they arrived. Shearer senior and Keith were both barred as a result of the fracas, although club bosses are set to review their decision.

The argument erupted when Shearer attempted to play the fruit machine while Keith's own father went to get more change - Keith insisting the England star's dad wait his turn.

Gary said: "There's a gentleman's agreement that if someone is still playing you don't jump in. He grabbed my hair with both hands. Dad came back and knocked his hands off me. Shearer threatened me but my dad gave him a mouthful back."

Club secretary Ian Storey said: "I believe this was handbags at a few paces but the committee may want to make an example of them."

Sure the club secretary was Ian Storey and not Uriah Rennie? I could have sworn that Shearer snr was simply standing his ground when Gary Keith took him from behind. More likely to have been due to an earlier fracas in the gents' followed by some persistent shoving at the bar when last orders was called.

Anyway, Shearer snr is well past it He'll never play for the National Domino team again.
