Invitating to Attend Countryside Reunion

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

If you haven't already made plans for this coming weekend, I am making my farm available for the 4th annual Countryside Reunion. Basically it is just a group of subscribers getting together to exchange ideas, views, or whatever. I'm in West-central Tennessee (specifically Waverly), which is about half-way between Nashville and Jackson. I'm about 12 miles north of I-40. The farm will be available from at least June 29th to July 5th. I have a good size yard with some trees for shade. Nearby is a pond about an acre in size and which is starting to have some good sized bass and catfish in it, plus panfish for the kids (catch and release only). Bring a paddle boat if you have one. Nice clear water swimming hole down at the creek, but bring shoes you don't mind getting wet as the bottom is gravel. Kids can wade through about a mile of creek if they want to. Although we have had some planned events in the past, nothing specifically is planned for this year. Anyone is welcome to camp. I can provide electricity to a couple of campers. I suspect those who only will come for the day will do so next Saturday. A kind of temporary outhouse will be available in the tractor shed. I have absolutely no idea on how many may attend. If you are interested send me an e-mail and I'll send you back information put together for the event a couple of years ago. I'm fairly easy to find.

My family went to the first Countryside reunion hosted by Ken, (about 5 years ago?) and it was a great time. I'm glad to hear your doing this again, Ken!

What an excellent idea! You're property sounds beautiful and it would be a lot of fun to talk with other people from the magazine and forum over coffee and exchange ideas and stories in person.
It sounds like a superscaled up version of a GT (get together) from back in the day before the internet really became available and subsribers to a local BBS would all meet for coffee at the local Dennys and chat for hours, the modems were all 9600 or slower and there were no pretty graphics but we all sure enjoyed dialing up to it and gabbing.... I sure miss that BBS.... Too bad the internet killed it....

Please send me information from the get-togethers in the past. Thanks!
