Blocks can be faintly seen during VCD playback ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

After much hours and agro i am about to chuck the towel in...

You see i finally made some VCD's after trial and error with everything -even the right media i finally used had to be hunted down as loads didn't work!.

Anyhow heres my setup

All In Wonder 32mg Panasonic cdr panasonic dvd rom

Laserdisc player connected to my computer - Ulead video studio 4.0 captures i have tried-mpeg 1/ntsc vcd/pal vcd using ulead video studio 4.0

always each time i have faint blocks can be seen in the final vcd playback?

I am a little dissapointed as to the quality.

I have the virtual bub software and could capture in AVI but i dont know how to convert to mpeg using ulead video studio 4.0 as it looks for VSP type files-in anycase would it be better result to do it this way and why not use ulead video studio 4.0 on a different setting to help me improve the quality-just that someone needs to tell me which setup will work best whilst using the capturing process???? within my ulead video studio 4.0

Please advise me.

I was in the same situation as yourself. I am/was also disappointed with the results in VCD so I went to SVCD and I couldn't be happier with the results. The SVCD's I have already created look KILLER (better than anything I could have acheived with VCD)! It also depends on what you are capturing from. I capture from VHS but keep in mind that SVCD is twice the bit rate as a VCD. Thanks, Cale
