HAMILTON OFF??

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

FORMER Bradford City player Des Hamilton is set to make a return to Valley Parade in a #200,000 deal with Newcastle United.

Midfielder Hamilton joined Newcastle just short of three years ago when the then Magpies manager Kenny Dalglish paid #2m for him.

Tyneside though has proved to be an unhappy place for the one time England under-21 international and he has not performed to expectations.

Hamilton could become one of the first signings for new Bantams boss Chris Hutchings, as he bids to bring the versitle 23-year-old back to the Yorkshire club.

Another player to catch the eye of the City boss is Fulham striker Geoff Horsfield, whom is rumoured to be the subject of a #3m offer by Hutchings.

Hopefully, good riddance to a total waste of money. Thank you Kenny.

Well, let's hope so, even if it is for 1/10 of his initial xfer fee (which I hadn't reaslised was so great). You win some and you lose some. One (nearly) down, 10 or so to go...........

I'm pretty sure TSM paid #1.5mm for him Screacher.

And to add some more excitement and joyish smiles to an utherwise dull day:

Duo exit imminent?

Sheffield United are reportedly interested in signing Toon youngsters Paul Robinson and Carl Serrant.

Blades boss Neil Warnock had the pair watched last season and is preparing a package to attract the duo to the Nationwide club.

Robinson impressed under Ruud Gullit and was controversially picked ahead of Alan Shearer and Duncan Ferguson in Gullit's last game in charge. However, his appearances have been limited under Robson and has requested to be placed on the transfer list. Left-back Serrant did not start a Premiership game under Bobby Robson last season and is anxious to play first team football again and would jump at the chance to move to South Yorkshire.

Serrant can go no problem - can't see Robbo going anywhere unless we get some decent reserve strikers for wor Al and Dunc (who you just know is going to get injured 1st game!)

Also, did anyone else notice the similarity between P.Neville's rash challenge for England and our very own Carl's unnecessary dive in against Everton a while back? Both ended in penalties that lost their respective sides the game...Carl went into footballing obscurity...Phil...?

Serrant and Hamilton highlight the problems with going and signing England U21's and expecting them just to slot into the Premiership. Serrant and Hamilton both came form the First Division and it is quite obvious that they can't hack the Prem or haven't adjusted to it.

Okay maybe they haven't been given the time but they haven't even shown it for the reserves. I'd have the same opinion about Mullins from Palace.

I thought Hamilton was #1m.

Not that he's got any chance of getting near the first team, but if Serrant goes along with Pistone and possibly Domi, it leaves us a wee bit short in the left-back dept. Lot of responsibility suddenly on Griffin...

BTW, what's the latest with Helder? Is he going, staying, anything resolved?
