Today's papers - Dyer/Shearer/Ferguson

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

You won't have missed the stuff about YKD. More or less the same stuff as Andy Cole/Dwight Yorke/Mark Bosnich a year or so ago and you can never quite believe that the girls were innocent victims and the papers have always got a self-righteous agenda so you never get the full facts. The only thing that actually WORRIED me was his getting glassed in a club in Ipswich on Friday. Jesus...!! The Shearer interview was quite touching as he really opened up, particularly about not wanting to be like Bill Nicholson and end up crying as his daughters go down the aisle cos he's missed their growing up. However, worrying about taking them out of school two weeks early and missing their sports day so they can go on hols seems a bit mad. I bet they are gutted.... He will be cheered to learn that 21% of people want him as the next England manager (more than want Alex Ferguson). Looks like we're destined to have press speculation about him for as long as he stays with the Toon. Finally, Fergsuon says he was justified in doubting Shearer and Ince and he isn't just saying taht beacuse of his history with both players. No?? Well, shut up up you whigeing get and ask about why the Nevilles disappeared for entire games (except when their vanishing would have been better than their appearing: ie. in a certain penalty area) and why Scholes disappeared for entire games. B*st*rd.

With regard to that story in the NOTW yesterday, did anyone really believe those pictures. Their supposed excerts from the video were blurred images and could have been anyone!

This would all give me greater concern if it was happening during the season or even during pre-season. Bobby will give hima talk when he gets back and Dyer will hopefully get his head down (Stop it!!) and establish himself in the Newcastle Team.

I heard Rob Lee on talk sport the other day and he was asked what is Dyer's best position and even the General couldn't answer that one. Can he do central midfield?

Avoiding all the sniggering about Dyer's best position, he wasn't much cop at all in central midfield when tried there a couple of times last season. He was caught out badly against Tranmere where he kept being caught in posession and YBR switched the formation to get him out wide.

He obviously worked well in a floating role but needs to improve his finishing as we have to lose a front man to play this way and he was frankly pants against Wimbledon. No point in getting in the right position and then hitting the corner flag (see JDT for details).

His most devestating performances have sadly been from the bench when he comes on and wreaks havoc against tiring opposition. See what Bobby can do for him on the training ground. One thing's for sure, he's not a wing-back, ok Kevin?

I'd play Keiron at inside right in a front three. Shearer the pivotal forward, who can hold it up when we are moving up the park. When in attack Shearer gets in the box and Dyer and the inside left, whoever he is, make the runs.

I've never really thought about this formation before but like it now. Three man midfield accompanied at the right time by the inside left and Dyer to make a 4-5-1. All of this when Ferguson is injured of course!

I did't see any papers yesterday, but it sounds like that interview was a transcript of a telly one he did last week - and on that one he quoted Ray Harford about bubbling at his daughter's wedding?!?!?

As for YKD - he's easy meat for hacks. Young, talented, gets the girls, stacked with cash...he'll be ok, just needs to learn to be a bit more discreet!

It's the glassing incident that worries me. This time a cut eye, next time what?

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2000

Haven't seen any of the LKD stuff. Can somebody enlighten me, or is it just a rerun of the stuff earlier this year about him "entertaining" two lasses at his place.

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2000

Steph - He was in two papers for having been involved in orgies and filming them while on holiday in Aiya Napa. He was with Lampard Jnr and Ferdinand (R). He also got glassed ina pub in Ipswich on Friday night apparently..

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2000

but didn't our man on the scene say that all that Ayia Napa stuff was a load of old Rupert Murdoch bollox?

You're too willing to believe any mud that's thrown Dougie....

I don't think Bill was in his bedroon, Gav, so probably couldn't comment. The journos claimed to have seen the tape. Anyway, that's not what I was moaning about - it's the fact that a hospital in Ipswich is confirming that he spent a night and most of the following day after being glassed. THAT is worrying. I don't care of he did tape these lasses. Only thing is, Bobby does seem to mind.

If you don't care then why do you always get into such a flap whenever he's mentioned in the papers?

As for the glassing incident.....it doesn't mean he's going off the edge etc etc etc just cos some nutter gets it into his head to stick a glass in his face!! I know a lot of people think he should stay locked in his ivory tower now that he's a highly paid footballer but I personally think that he's allowed a life outside of the football season....

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2000

It's not as if it's during the season. Let him have his bit of fun as long as he works hard during pre-season and performs during the season, who are we to tell him to stop doing what every other young lad is doing right now.

If he wasn't a footballer he'd be doing a lot more than the press report him to be doing.

Dougal...what Shearer interview? Is it online? Any way you can copy it into email for me? I feel so out of touch, have no idea what's going on in the world the last few days...barely have a few minutes here and there to get online. If you can...mail my aol account, por favor. Muchas gracias!!!! :-))

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2000

Who's getting into a flap? Read the thread, Gav. YOU'RE in a bigger panic than me: I merely related the tale THAT WAS IN TWO PAPERS YESTERDAY AND TO WHICH THE CLUB HAS RESPONDED BY SAYING THAT YBR WILL BE REMONSTRATING WITH HIM. I also added that I couldn't give a fuck what he did or what was in the papers but a 6 million pound asset getting his face slashed is worrying. I make no apologies for worrying about THAT. Just like it would concern me if someone slashed your face or anyone else's: it's not a nice thing to happen. ALL RIGHT?

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2000

Ciara, I'll see if it's still online and e mail it to you.

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2000

Whatever....you obviously don't even know when your stressing these days....

Leave the shouting out eh.....I can't be arsed with it....

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2000

Au contraire, I know when I'm stressing and also when I'm shouting and I'm currently doing neither.

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2000

Well turn the caps lock off then....

-- Anonymous, June 26, 2000

So.....YKD is saying it's a witch hunt now (check out http://www.the-journal.co.uk/cfm/newsstory.cfm?StoryId=189532)....

Who do we believe....Rupert Murdoch or the young lad.....

-- Anonymous, June 27, 2000

The story about the glassing could have been blown out of all proportion. As for the Blue Movies perhaps young Kevin was getting 'blown' out of all proportion.:,)

-- Anonymous, June 27, 2000

The Metro, London's free morning newspaper, implies he was glassed in a Newcastle club and says he's moving out of his Newcastle flat.

-- Anonymous, June 27, 2000

Dougal.

Please could I have a copy of the Shearer article too ? I have been infected with a nasty little WScript Kak Worm virus and completely to hell for a week !!

All clear now.

Thanks.

val.

-- Anonymous, June 27, 2000

Val, will do! Hope you are well. Someone else said they'd been "KAKed" as well..sounds nasty.

-- Anonymous, June 27, 2000

Saw a bit on teletext where he reckoned that living too close to the Quayside wasn't a good idea and he was looking for somewhere quieter. That's solved your househunting problems Dougal - get a place out in the sticks and have the lad as your lodger where you can keep an eye on him! ;-)

-- Anonymous, June 27, 2000

Can't see the logic in that. He'll have to get a taxi whenever he wants to get into the town now, damn inconvenience I reckon.

Imagine him getting bored in suburbia all on his own, he'll just call up the nearest escort agency and get two lovelies round for an afternoon in front of the roaring coal fire, spreading themselves on his leopard skin sofa.

-- Anonymous, June 27, 2000

val,

I too have been Kak'd. I must admit to ignorance of this before. I only found out when I updated my VET file.

I suffered no damage that I know of.

Any idea what I should look for?

-- Anonymous, June 27, 2000

It's all a load of KAK

If you're interested, Check Out.
