PALMDALE AIR FORCE BASE, California (CNN) -- An American Eagle flight en route from Los Angeles to Las Vegas was diverted after the crew reported a problem with the plane's hydraulic system.

Flight 3056 with 31 people aboard reported the problem near Palmdale Air Force Base -- where it landed safely. "As far as I know, an emergency landing was never declared. It was a routine landing. It landed safely and without incident," said Mark Kienzle, spokesman for American Airlines.

Another plane was flown to the base to pick up the passengers.

The plane is expected to remain at Palmdale while work is performed.
