No Calls Lost During 911 Outage

San Jose police say not a single call was missed during a breakdown of the department's 9-1-1 calling system. The police department's communications center lost phone service at about 5:30 yesterday morning and service wasn't restored until 2:30 in the afternoon. The city's backup system immediately kicked in, ensuring that calls weren't missed. A police spokesman says crews are trying to determine if the problem was in house or if Pacific Bell is to blame. This is the second time this month the communications center has lost phone service.
