Can CDR VCDs playback on Mac?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi! I burned some VCDs using Videopack 4.0 on PC. When I tried playing on a iMac(Quicktime), it doesn't work. However, it works fine on PC and normal VCD player. Any way to solve this?

See if you can get a copy of the Windows Media Player for Mac from www.microsoft.com/windows. I think they have a Mac version. I am not sure if the XING 3.0 Mpeg decoder has a Mac version. Quicktime doesn't support DAT files.

I am afraid that Mr. Lovatt is not completely correct, Quicktime can read all proper MPEG1 files. The problem is that Apple's built in CD ROM driver does not support all Video CD's. To fix this problem you must download DVD/CD-Rom speed tool for about $44 from Intech software, their website is www.intechusa.com. Windows media player will not help you, it also does not support ANY MPEG files on the Macintosh.

No help here, just wanted to say here is more evidence of "Think Different, Be Different, Pay More".

I should note that Windows PC's also have the same problems, they also require software to make "all" VCD's work.
