Give us a link to the thread, so we can judge the context, please.

If I recall correctly, mid-December was a very trying time when the forum was being subjected to repeated Denial of Service attacks. Oftentimes the text that was being robotically spammed into the forum was just as friendly as the above-quoted rant. Without context, none of this can be assessed.

Thanks.

Andyray,

I don't recall this Rational Doomer character, or the 'wacko' who you recently posted venom from.

Andyray, were you trolling both sides of the fence, a switch hitter, as it were?

You can find the post here:

THAT'S IT...I'VE HAD IT WITH POLLIES!!!! I'VE HAD IT!!!!!!!!!

It's pretty entertaining fare, although "Rational Doomer" chills out later in the thread. Still, the original post is good for a giggle. He stole the p.s. line from "Dieter" though.

Funny thread, it also included a response from "Linda" that was typical of the responses to those of us who posted information at TB2000 demonstrating why y2k wasn't going to be a threat to society like the doomers expected/wanted/hoped/dreamed of: Rational Doomer.. calm down. The pollies on this and other like forums are just doing their JOB. They are paid disinformation agents. [FEMA, FBI, Rendon Group, ABA... don't know.. doesn't matter.]

Still waiting on my gov't shill check....

Folks:

If you read this you will find that:

Sorry about the post...reading it now I realize that it was not cool! I had just finished reading a polly's response to someones post and was shocked...what I meant to say, is that instead of telling us doomers why we are wrong, you should be preparing. If you are wrong, then you will be thanking God for your supplies, if you are right, then you can come back here and spam all you want!

-- Rational Doomer (doomer@big.time), December 12, 1999.

Andy Ray was invited. if you are right, then you can come back here and spam all you want!

Of course, I don't recognize the authority of Rational DOOMER.

Best wishes,,,,

Brian. The robotic spamming was not by pollies. To continue to pretent it is is as incorrect as continueing to say that Y2K is the end of the world as we know it.

I was in boc's chat when this was discussed and coppied the posts. Those who felt Y2K would turn out bad, doomers, wanted to preserve TB2000 and someone, I believe it was Lisa, told the others how to roboticlly copy the forum. That is what brought the forum down. That is what Phil Greenspun was talking about when he said robots were killing his computer.

Pollies had no reason to individually copy the forum. That is a fact.

What exactly do you mean by denial of service? Are you saying a robot was printing posts that prevented others from accessing the forum? Other than the spam LL heaped on the forum, by herself, not by robot.

Lets be honest about what really happened, ok?

I suppose I could nit-pick and pretend that "robotically" could refer to any action pursued as a robot would, IOW, repetitively and mindlessly. I won't make that pretense. I will accept your correction. Sorry for the mistaken reference to robots.
