"Loose Ends"

I watched "Loose Ends" the other day and I was wondering about something. When Elizabeth was trying to get Claire to be admitted for help maybe she should have mentioned Lucy. She did look a little bit like Lucy. A said a little bit. Lucy died at 24 years old. I don't know how old Claire was. Lucy fought for her life and wanted to live. Apparently Claire doesn't want to live. Maybe if she had said something like "a few months ago a very good friend of mine was stabbed and she fought for her life but died. I know that she would give anything to be alive and have a second chance in life. You can have that second chance that she'll never get." I wonder if that would have made a differnce or not. Does anyone think that that would have worked?

Are you talking about the anorexic girl? If so, I'm not sure that would have helped. Anorexics need a lot of help from someone trained to be able to help them. She would have let that go in one ear and out the other I am afraid. They just have no concept that they could die from what they are doing (from my understanding). If you are not talking of the anorexic girl then you can ignore this post ! :)

That's who I was talking about.

I doubt it would have helped her because she didn't seem ready to face her problems. But I think it would have been appropriate for Elizabeth to remember Lucy. Here was another young, blonde woman in a dire situation that she couldn't save. It was a bit different, since the girl was hurting herself, but it wouldn't have been unrealistic for Elizabeth to be reminded of Lucy.

But didn't Elizabeth reference David Greene as a "very good friend who just died fighting for his life?" It seems that the girl with anorexia didn't want any help and that must be so frustrating for doctors.

Yes but then she could also have mentinoed Lucy since Lucy was more Claire's age than David was.

I think mentioning Lucy would have made a little more sense because there is more of a comparison there. But Elizabeth was also directly upset because she had just heard about David's death. I don't think anyone Elizabeth mentioned would have made much of a difference to Claire, but it does seem Lucy would have been better.
