Fine Hiro, just commenting on the feeling of gloom pervading the place. It's like that nasty feeling when you wake up feeling alright but everything reminds you of someone you love who's dumped you. You could win the lottery and it wouldn't really cheer you up. Odd thing is that I'm not overly bothered about England: I did want Alan to get a chance to sign off with a flourish though, and I felt terrible for him last night. Chance has gone now.

Still, he'll be one of us for real now; no more divided loyalties and giving a monkeys about sound-bytes. He can be as insulting as he likes about Manchester United without needing to apologise next time. Get stuck into all the defenders in the league and show the fans and media what they are missing.

Hey winning the lottery would cheer me up. Club before country. And lets face it the start of this season has to be better than the start of the last.

Anyone heard anything on

a) Speed/Pistone going? b) Pinto coming to the toon

I'm pretty sure Speed will stay. Pistone will talk to Everton at the weekend, expect him to sign, it's obvious that we don't want him/we need the money.

I would forget Pinto, bigger fish in for him with European football and probably more dosh.

I would still swap Pistone for Hutchinson. I can't believe the hacks haven't picked up on this one yet.
