Water Line Break Causes Drowning

The Chicago Park District says a water line break caused a drowning at a West Side park. It occurred late Sunday night at LaFollette Park on west Potomac. David Doig (doe-ig) is Park District Superintendent. Doig says crews are building a water park, and the hole the boy fell into was dug last week to accommodate a water filter. When the construction company left the site Friday, the hole was free of water. Doig says the water line broke sometime over the weekend. A crew that checked on the site said the leak was not visible Saturday night. The victim is identified as ten-year-old Derrick Young of the West Side.
