Another curse from the reds side?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

This cannot be understanding, last time it was Becks and now Philippe Neville...another curse or England should leave all the players currently using the red colors for their club shirt out of the national squad?

That School child is also having a very quiet game this evening, and I think Keegan should replaced him sooner. I feel sad for both Shearer and Keegan...

silly bloody challenge... from a manure reserve thats why Fergie plays Irwin not the only disaster tonight

Thing is, Neville does that at Old Trafford and the ref gives a goal kick so he thinks it's OK!

Sadly, no one came out of this evening's shocker with much credit.
I thought Owen and Shearer, and perhaps Scholes - who looked to be carrying an injury - did OK and caused a few problems. Keown did his level best to keep his finger in the dam, but Campbell was just as erratic as he has been over the last six games, and both FB's were dreadful.
Midfield lacked movement, marking, cohesion, tactical awareness, created very little, and continually gave the ball away. I thought Wise, Ince and Beckham were awful.
I felt terribly sorry for KK tonight. He is a wonderful man, caring, honest and open, but I fear he may be out of his depth in this arena. I sincerely hope I'm wrong on this point, as I'd just love the little fella to be a huge success with England - however, bringing Heskey on when he did, when keeping possession was paramount to our survival at 2-2, I'm afraid may well have characterised his tactical acumen.
Oh dear, oh dear......

You need to go across to the RTG site, they have got right to the root cause of the problem, everything tha tisn't Keegan's fault is Shearer's. Obvious really. Small town envy.

Well, maybe now they'll get the chance to find out - but don't hold your breath.
I'm sure the munchkin would have made all the difference if he'd played tonight - we'd have been beaten 3-1!

Clarky, got to disagree on one point. "Owen did OK"

Besides the goal, OK goals are important, but he was let down nearly every time he touched the ball. The only time he looked comfortable was running on to the ball.

On nearly every occassion his first touch was abyssmal. The ball would end up 3 foot away from him!

I have to disagree about Owen, I thought he had a very good game, he fully utilised his pace for the first time and closed down there defenders as wor Al had been doing in every game. I was surprised to see him taken off and more surprised to see Heskey come on.

Does this mean than P. Neville will be in for the same treatment that Beckham got after the last world cup? Or will he escape from it becuase he's on the scums bench and not on the field of play.

Mornin` Tre - I don`t think he will get the same sort of stick as Beckham - he doesn`t have the same high profile - ie. pictures of him don`t sell as many newspapers.(:o)

I sincerely hope the lad doesn't get anything lke the stick that Becks got.
He played to the limit of his ability, in fact in some respects he did better than I expected, and didn't hide.
It's not his fault he was selected to do something he simply isn't capable of doing, and I for one hope he's left alone and not singled out for unfair personal criticicm.

I agree with you Clarky - but I think he`s pretty safe, he just doesn`t have the glamour factor. He may take a bit of stick for opposing teams in the league, but not like Becks did.(:o)

I don't think he's gonna take much stick either but do you really just think it's down to the glamour factor?

Could it not be down to the fact that we're all getting so used to the INEVITABLE disappointment of watching of England that we're no longer looking for scapegoats?

Then again....you could be right....

And fate decrees the Toon are the first set of fans to see Phil Neville play for ManU (if he's selected).

I honestly hope they don't give him stick. He's always gone on about how brilliant Newcastle fans, KK and AS are. Unfortunately I'll be surprised if they don't hammer him!

Pitbill - Do you think it's that much different for Big Al, having to face 60000 Mancs first game back? The worst of it is, they all hate England so much that they'll be singing "Shearer for England" etc.

Well at least if he's playing we know that YBR will be telling everyone just to get the ball to feet in the box and wait to be taken down ;)))
