Virus Cost State Thousands They say love hurts and it can be costly. The state has released the final damage costs the "I Love You" virus caused to state agencies last month. The Commonwealth spent more than $645,000 dealing with the virus and fixing its systems that caught the "Love Bug." More than half of Virginia's state agencies were infected by the virus, using more than 15,000 man-hours to fix the damaged systems.
