Flomaton Loses Phone Service

About 2,000 customers in the Flomaton area lost telephone service Sunday evening when a fiber optic cable was cut, according to BellSouth spokeswoman Gigi Armbrecht.
She said other customers in the Flomaton and Century, Fla., areas could make and receive calls but did not have other services such as caller ID and call waiting.
Armbrecht said it would be late Monday or Tuesday before service would be restored.
The cable was cut during the replacement of a gas main under the Escambia River, she said.
