Did anyone watch the Belgium match last night, if they did could they give a run down on how the winger performed.

didn't Goor used to be more of a traditional, even holding midfielder rather than an out and out winger ?

Oops! Belgium match is tonight.

LT - Frm my understanding Goor used to be a striker converted to LW.

Here's his bio.

BART GOOR Country: Belgium Club: RSC Anderlecht Born: 09/04/1973 Height: 1.83m Weight: 75kg

Position: Midfielder Shirt Number: 8

Goor first emerged as a dynamic midfield force with quickly-rising KRC Genk, and he has continued to shine in the more rarefied confines of RSC Anderlecht.

His first five appearances for the national team all ended in defeat in 1999, but Goor has survived and prospered under new coach Robert Waseige.

His performances on the left of midfield have been attributed as a key reason for the transformation of national-team fortunes over the past year.

He has capped those displays with goals against the Netherlands and Italy.

Any one who watched last nights match have anything to say on Goor's performance?

I thought he was useful and Belgium looked the worse for his substitution oh I thought Mpenza was poor he lost possession cheaply and although he got into good scoring positions his chances were squandered forcing one save from a header which I felt he should have scored but he was unlucky to have a goal chalked off for offside.

Very industrious with a good left foot but reminded me a bit of a left sided David White (Sheff Utd and Man City), not quite fast enough and not quite skilful enough, not an out and out left winger.

Impenza was mentioned on here but I wouldn't touch him. Very quick but missed some very good opportunities and Ketsabai would have been better!!

Wilmots played exceptionally well in the centre of midfield for Belgium. Good going forward and was getting stuck in and winning the ball. He had to be man of the match for me last night. Oh and Inter Milan seem to have got a bargain with Hakan Suker for #5 mill, even though he's turkish.

Shearer would have buried that header with his eyes shut last night, plain and simple. It was arguably easier than the one Shearer scored against the Germans. Same old Shearer.....

Inter got Sukur for 5 mill? I thought I read it was closer to 18 mill? he must've been close to the end of his contract then cos there's no way Galatasary would've let him go for that little...

I watched both matches last night and I must say that I was again very very impressed with Kennet Andersson when he came on for the swedes....they suddenly looked very dangerous...he's a big strong man with a good touch....I reckon he'd do very well in the premiership unlike his little sister Andreas ;))

I read #5 mill, but it may be wrong. Kennet Anderson has been linked with Arsenal in the last couple of weeks to rpelace Suker. He's 32 and if I'm not mistaken he had a trial with us a few years back. He has always looked a decent player.

I don't think Goor has been really outstanding in any of the three games. However, I do like the cut of his gib (old nautical term!).
To me he looks like Stephen Glass with strength - decent pace, skilful, good shot, industrious. At the right price, say #3-4mm, I wouldn't mind seeing him at the Toon.
Mpenze I don't really rate. David Pleat summed it up perfectly last night when he said "...if his brain was half as fast as his feet he'd be a good player!"
Mpenze spoiled numerous moves for Belgium last night, who's poor manager got his substitutions all wrong.

Yeah KK rejected Kennet Andersson a while back :(( he might not work out but I thought he looked really good last night...

I do like the cut of his gib (old nautical term!).

Or an old Montgomerie Burns term, "Ah Simpson eh, Sector 7G, I like that cut of the young man's gib"
