Crush me, baby!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Hedgehog Talk : One Thread

Everybody knows my noviestar crushes are Russell Crowe and David Morse, but I've also got Tommy Lee Jones and John Cusack. Who are yours?

I have a massive thing for Guy Pearce. So fey in 'Priscilla, Queen of the Desert,' so repressed in 'L.A. Confidential,' so all around delightful to watch. Most of my star crushes focus on television actors, though: Joel Hodgson of 'MST3K,' Leigh Keno of 'Antiques Roadshow,' and Patrick Stewart in 'Star Trek: TNG.'

-- Lucy Huntzinger (huntzinger@mindspring.com), June 19, 2000.

Hmm, the first and longest lasting crush of mine is on Christian Slater...others include, Johnny Depp, John Cusak, Ralph Fiennes, Matthew, Anthony HOpkins, Sean Connery, and that's just off the top of my head....the lasting ones though is Mr. Slater, doesn't matter the crap movie he's in, I'll go see it.

-- Becky Dodd (r_m_dodd@hotmail.com), June 19, 2000.

Michelle Forbes, Famke Janssen, and Nicole DeBoer. Guess it's that early Star Trek influence.

-- Colin (ethilrist@prodigy.net), June 19, 2000.

Ben Affleck and Gina Gershon, on the two ends of the gorgeous-dark- hair spectrum.

-- Tynan (tynan@proactivebliss.net), June 19, 2000.

Matthew Broderick.

My movie star one and only.

-- Jackie (jackie@jackie.nu), June 19, 2000.

Sir Derek Jacobi is my main man, but thoughout my life I've had cruses on several television actors including Randolph Mantooth (Emergency), Pete Duel (Alias Smith and Jones) and Paul Michael Glaser (Starsky and Hutch).

-- hez (summer-girl@butterflytattoos.com), June 19, 2000.

Absolutely, without a doubt, 100% Jeremy Irons. Can't get enough of that man.

-- Amy T. (als918@aol.com), June 19, 2000.

Crushes. Let's see John Cusack, Kevin Spacey, and Ralph Fiennes. I used to have a major crush on Christian Slater until I read that he beat his girlfriend.

-- Melissa (mesawyou@yahoo.com), June 19, 2000.

Man. Angelina Jolie. I've had the hots for Angelina Jolie for ever and ever. I've always known that she was a little wild. And I could handle that, that's cool. But now it's breaking my heart that that it's turned out that she's totally fucking crazy. What is it with her and her Sling Blade daddy? They're nuts. Crushing the life out of each other? That's some scary, scary noodle-headed stuff right there. Damn.

I have to cut you loose, Angel. You're a goddamn loony.

Lawrence Fishburne is my other true love. He is all strong and big and rumbly. I like rumbly in a man. Deep old voice, dark eyes. Lovely lips. Yum.

-- Jen (maharishe@yahoo.com), June 19, 2000.

Kyle Secor. I love Kyle Secor so much. I love Kyle Secor so much that when I went to a charity event that he was at, I skipped the lunchmeat tray, just because I didn't want (Buddhist, vegetarian) him to catch me eating meat. Just in case. Like he'd notice.

*whimper*

-- Saundra (scrnwrtr1@home.com), June 20, 2000.

Jody Foster since i was about eight years old, Jennifer Connelly since Labrynth, Aalma Heyak since Desperado, Keanu Reeves since Speed. Sophie Marceau since braveheart. They all make me drool like Homer Simpson with donuts.

-- Daniel (truth60@yahoo.com), June 20, 2000.

I must be a Homersexual

-- Daniel (truth60@yahoo.com), June 20, 2000.

For currently popular, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Davi, James Marsters, and Dylan McDermott. I also think Peter Jennings is very sexy.

My all-time favorite, though, is Peter O'Toole. When he was younger (Lawrence of Arabia), he was beautiful, and as he got older, he had that whole ruined elegance thing going for him.

What can I say? I like a lived-in face.

-- Laura (lbhelfrich@yahoo.com), June 20, 2000.

I can't believe that I forgot Ralph Fiennes! And Anthony Head. Yummy.

-- Kymm (kymmz1@yahoo.com), June 20, 2000.

There just isn't enough space to list all of my crushes, but I'll give it a shot. Permanent: Jeff Goldblum, Mike Farrell (met him twice, yea!), Matt Frewer, Brent Spiner, (those are my top four) Patrick Stewart, Scott Bakula, Denzel Washington, David Duchovny, Jonathan Pryce, Leonard Nimoy in his younger days, maybe a few others.

Permanent and no longer living: Jeremy Brett and Basil Rathbone.

Transitory or occasional: Bruce Willis (Moonlighting years), Nicholas Rowe (YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES, Phillip Michael What's-His-Face (Miami Vice), Michael Gross, Donny Osmond, Shaun Cassidy, Parker Stevenson, Dirk Benedict, Ken Howard, Bill Pulman, many others I've forgotten.

Girl crushes: Gillian Anderson, Camryn Manheim and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

I never get scary about my crushes (haven't stalked Mike Farrell yet), but I do occasionally enjoy a certain harmless obsession.

-- Carol (webgal@ordinarygoddess.com), June 20, 2000.

Me, I go for the 'bad boys' and 'psychopaths'..as long as those traits don't extend beyond their film roles! ;-) My #1 for awhile has been Klaus-Maria Brandauer..mainstream movies include "Out of Africa" (the eeeevil hubby), "Never Say Never" (classic Bond villain) and others that I can't think of. But I really loved him in the Istvan Szabo trilogy, "Hanussen", "Col.Redl" and "Mephisto". Others of droolworthy note include the ever-so-hypnotic Ray Liotta (those eyes!!!), and the bitingly gorgeous (sorry!) James Marsters as 'Spike' in 'Buffy'. Females, well, I really adore Beatrice Dalle, Sophie Marceau, and Emmanuelle Beart. Luffly ladies, and very sensual in that classy European way.' Off for a cold shower now!

-- jacqueline (admin@anv.com.au), June 20, 2000.

Why the hell did I bold part of my post? WTF was I on? Sorry about that, folks.

-- Carol (webgal@ordinarygoddess.com), June 21, 2000.

You were very very adamant about those guys.

-- Kymm Zuckert (kymmz1@yahoo.com), June 21, 2000.

Well, um, yeah, I guess I am.

This link's for you, Kymm.

-- Carol (webgal@ordinarygoddess.com), June 21, 2000.

Barb's moviestar and TV crushes are Pierce Brosnan, Kevin Kline, Bill Pullman, and Billy Campbell. As for me...truth to tell, I don't have a lot of moviestar crushes. Diana Rigg when I was younger, but other than that...? Got me. Maybe Susan Sarandon. ---Al of NOVA NOTES.

-- Al Schroeder (al.schroeder@nashville.com), June 21, 2000.

O my m'my my my...I'd give alot to watch David Morse and Russell Crowe play soccer. It was wasted on the orphans! Thanks Carol!

-- Kymm (kymmz1@yahoo.com), June 22, 2000.

You're very welcome! Maybe Russell and David will play again, this time in the US.

I just picked up today's Backstage West and noticed that there's an article titled "Actors We Love". The main story is about America's current favorite Australian actors: Toni Collete, Cate Blanchette and...Russell Crowe! I'm assuming that the same article is in the East Coast Backstage. (For an excerpt, and a lovely picture of Gladiator Crowe, go here .)

-- Carol (webgal@ordinarygoddess.com), June 22, 2000.

Thanks, Carol, for that cool article, I'm really impressed to see Russell, Toni and Cate giving back to the Oz film industry, it shows a strength of character that reflects nicely on Australia. (Of course, being Australian, I'm admitting to a smallish bias here!).

I put them in the same category as the US actors who make it big in Hollywood, and then use their power and money to make cool indie flicks, and start theatre groups and just use their power and talent to not just make money and dreck films.

-- Amanda Page (amanda@amandasprecipice.com), June 23, 2000.

Anytime this wants to turn into the "send Kymm Russell Crowe links" forum, that's cool by me, I'm loving it so far! Hey, 'Manda, where's my cd!

-- Kymm Zuckert (kymmz1@yahoo.com), June 23, 2000.

Anthony. Stewart. Head.

You know, I always thought he was cute. Then he started to sing on "Buffy". Now he's just hot. Not just hot. H.O.T.

Of course, James Marsters is all good too. Mmmmm.

And Russell Crowe--but Kymm'd beat me with a stick before I could get to him. I'd still like her though, because then I'd have a clear path to Anthony 'cause she'd be occupied.

I used to have a huge thing for Robert Beltran of "Star Trek: Voyager" until I met him and realized what a massive jerk he is.

But my current huge celebrity crush is the lead singer of matchbox twenty. Oh my God. His voice couldn't scream "fuck me" any more if it tried.

(I love Kymm's forum. I know I can safely say "fuck" here. :-)

-- Melissa (centerbeth@yahoo.com), June 23, 2000.

What? How DARE you say fuck here! Only heck and darn and jeepers from now on, please.

-- Kymm Zuckert (kymmz1@yahoo.com), June 23, 2000.

Golly gee willikers, Kymm, you're so sensitive about swear words. I guess that shit doesn't fly here, huh?

A couple of years ago I worked a charity event for the American Cancer Society - a casino night with soap and TV stars working as croupiers and dealers. Anothony Stewart Head was on the stage and launched into "Sweet Transvestite". It wasn't until much later that I realized he played Frank N. Furter in London. At the time I barely knew who he was, just recognizing him from the Tasters Choice commercials (I'm very "Buffy" unaware, why do you ask?). Man, was he fun to listen to! And tres HOT.

-- Carol (webgal@ordinarygoddess.com), June 23, 2000.

My last real moviestar crush was Kiefer Sutherland - I'm old enough to be his mamma, but then, hey, he was dating a woman old enough to be his mamma. I think I had some kinky fantasy about him and his father in the back of my mind, but he did do one flick where he was a romantic weirdo. And I went to it repeatedly. Jeff Goldblum in Earth Girls are Easy, but not in the real world because he's such an utter flake. Raul Julia, dead or alive. Gregory Hines. Yum. And Harry Connick, Jr. He's cute and he knows he's cute, but he's sooo good at it.

-- Uncle Aussie (aussie@woogly.com), June 23, 2000.

Robert De Niro.

Robert De Niro about 20 years ago, I mean. Hot diggity damn.

-- Katie (mrkite@apci.net), June 23, 2000.

20 years ago my crushes were much different. I was hot for Rick Springfield. Oh, god, I'm so embarrassed.

-- Lucy Huntzinger (huntzinger@mindspring.com), June 26, 2000.

CD? ahem..

Suprisingly enough, the companies that have been involved in 30 Odd Foot of Grunt, Russell's musico proect, are not even slightly capitalising on the success of Gladiator. The only place I found that you can buy his CD's is online, here:

Which I, and the many record retailers I spoke to while in Oz, think is very very silly!

-- Amanda Page (amanda@amandasprecipice.com), June 26, 2000.

Did you know that Charles Bronson used to be hot? He wasn't always a seedy-looking, shifty-looking guy with a mustache. Rent The Magnificent Seven if you don't believe me.

-- Diana (diana@alum.mit.edu), June 26, 2000.

Hey, Kymm, have you heard the rumour that Russell Crowe is going to move to Austin? I will let you know if he buys a house here.

I have a weird thing for Norm MacDonald. Geez, but he's flat-out sexy. Does no one else see it? Those eyes, dimples, lanky frame... I also love Dennis Miller and when they're together I can't decide which one to drool over.

There's also a local musician, Bob Schneider, rumoured to be dating Sandra Bullock, who is so handsome, with the sexiest voice you've ever heard. The first time I went to one of his shows, I walked in and my mouth hung open. Literally. So much handsomer and charismatic than the photo in the CD I have, sweating and grabbing the microphone and, lord. I stood there just staring at him until another groupie patted my shoulder and said, "It's okay, hon, you can smile."

I really think if he could just look into my eyes for ten seconds he'd want to fuck me.

-- deb (deb@io.com), June 26, 2000.

Hey, whaddaya know, I think the same thing about Russell! He's going to be in Austin for three months with his band, cutting a new album, so if you run into him, give him my URL.

I'll owe ya one.

-- Kymm (kymmz1@yahoo.com), June 26, 2000.

Meg Ryan???

Gah!

A.

-- Amanda Page (amanda@amandasprecipice.com), June 30, 2000.

That's only because he hasn't met me yet. She'd never move to Australia, so there is a definite shelf-life. It's a location fuck, like summer camp, it's not real.

-- Kymm Zuckert (kymmz1@yahoo.com), June 30, 2000.

Kyle Secor...I juz LOVE him. He's extremely talented, and quite yummy looking..BUT, very under appreciated. There is no justice in the land of show biz. If only I owned my own TV/movie studio, I'd give this wonderful guy a decent part in a good script. He deserves much more than what they're giving him on that lame show "City of Angels". Awww well, at least I get to see him every week :)

-- teri (teri_1@webtv.net), October 23, 2000.

Colin Firth. Colin Firth. Colin Firth. I've watched Pride and Prejudice 50 millions times, and I've already seen Bridget Jones's Diary three times (and will go again, I'm sure, this weekend). I could eat him with a spoon.

-- Jennifer Z. (jenniferz@peoplepc.com), April 26, 2001.

-- Ash (sweetinsanity88@aol.com), March 20, 2003.

johnny depp really needs recognition for is talent as well as his sex appeal. Damn! i do that man. Topher Grace and Beck hanson are like Peter Pan sexy and youve just got to love that. I also have a thing for kevin spacey...

-- Jacqueline Oak (jacquelineoak@yahoo.com), September 06, 2003.

David Morse is like no other actor. Big, strong, quiet, talented and woe baby he's hot. Love those big shoulders! Close your eyes and listen to that bedroom voice! What a talent and what a man.

If more people don't start to watch Hack they might take the show off the air because ratings are not up there with the "youthful" shows. That would be a BIG SHAME.

-- (tfawber@comcast.net), January 14, 2004.

Of course, David Morse is my #1, but I do like Russell Crowe and Adrien Brody! The Pianist is one of the best movies I have ever seen. His acting was supberb!

And might I add my tidbit about Hack also! We DO need some youthful viewers, so spread the word or write the address's on Mary's website, www.davidmorseonline.org!
