Well isnt this special! Here we are on Fathers Day and out come the fanatics from the tax protest and abolish the government fringe. For the most part I am proud of this country and extra proud to be a Father and Grandfather. Oh, and ladies, thanks for all of your kind words on this Fathers Day.or not.

I really did have a happy Father's Day. My elder son called; I called Dad, and after work I tossed guns & targets into the Suburban and took my younger son to the range to fire some rounds and participate in the "50 Million Round March." Actually managed to get a photo of him with a big muzzle flash as he fired the 16" .223 barrel on his Contender Carbine. I hope to see that jpg published in the Sierra Times. Later, Younger Son talked me into letting him "help" drive as we took my motorcycle back to the garage.

It's work but it's cool being a Dad.

I too had a great dad. Boy was I lucky. My son did not have such a great dad, but he had, and has the best step-dad in the country. Even good dads don't always make good step-dads, but my husband did and is now a great step-grandad.

Gilda, you touch on something I have often said when the subject of adoption vs "blood" comes up. A "parent" is not so much a donor of genetic material, as he/she is "one who parents." Modern careers steal so much of our time, but I still enjoy parenting (most of the time). Also, logic tells us the adopted child KNOWS he was wanted, because it's hard to do that by accident.
