OH My poor head!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I just can`t remember the last time I had a hangover, let alone a hangover like the one I have this morning. Brilliant stuff last night (footie that is). Excellent post match interviews - listening to KK telling it like it is to the press was a delight! Totally full of admiration for our very own Big Al - and just so pleased for him too - what a hero! Full marks to everyone on the team, I couldn`t fault their grit and determination. Magic!

Just read my postings from last night, oops! Definately ever so slightly trollied when I did those! Exceptional circumstances though! Nearly had a heart attack in the 12th minute when Germany lined up that free kick! I would have never forgiven myself for entering that draw - even if it was for charity.

I believe I will have about #55 coming back on my Shearer to score first bet. I simply have to carry that forward to the next game! Shall I repeat it? It would be fun wouldn`t it?

OK, I really feel so bad this morning that I am going to have to go on a carbohydrate hunt! Speak to you all later when the letters on the screen stop dancing about! {:o)

Incidentally - another fabulous day here - at 7 am it was 70 degrees, and now at nine o`clock it`s in the eighties!

Mornin' Gal & the rest of you! Surprisingly, after a night oot at Pilgrim's, my heed doesn't hurt at all - but my @rse does! Now, now. Before you all go jumping to the wrong conclusions (again), this is due to me deciding to cycle round there again - 2nd time on a bike in the last 6 years. I guess it must be the exercise which cleared my heed. Either that or an increased tollerance level.

Crackin' result, tho not a game for the purists. I thought KK called it spot on. Correct subs at the right time. As for AS - well, I bet he woke up this morning with a grin the size of the Tyne Bridge. Shame he's past it, eh?

Suprisingly enough my head doesn't hurt at all....I think I must've drank myself round ;))

Absolutely fantastic time...I got behind England for the whole match (easier to do when there's a pub full of saur krauts!)....ripped the shit out of them for the whole match and then went nuts when Al scored.....then forced all the england fans to join me in One Alan Shearer and kept them at it every 5 minutes for the next two hours til I left that place ;))

Galaxy, Sorry to year you are unwell, but no sympathy mind!!!!

Did not want to start a new thread, but just wanted you to know about 2 other movies with Russell Crowe.

Have you seen either L A Confidential or The Sum of Us?

Ooh Gus - you certainly know the way to a woman`s heart! I shall look out both of those films - thank you! Feeling a bit better now, BTW, the letters on the screen are at last staying still - mind you it is five o`clock in the afternoon now! (:o)

Bursting with pride that it was NUFC's captain and a Geordie that ended the 34 years of hurt. Even Ruud Gullit had words of praise.

LA Confidential is absolutely top notch!! well worth getting mum....

Gav - what are you doing at work?!(:o)

Hey Galaxy. In all fairness, in case it should temper your 'enjoyment' of Russell Crowe, perhaps naughty ol' Gus should've mentioned that in 'The Sum of Us' he plays a gay man !! It's a good, funny film mind and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Always assuming you can pick up a copy - I don't think it made any great waves outside of Oz, so it may be a little hard to find.

The performance that really made Russell Crowe over here was called 'Romper Stomper'. He plays a National Front thug in Melbourne who gets into gang warfare with the local Vietnamese, lives by the sword & dies by it etc. etc. Not everyone's cup of char I'll grant you, but he is exceptionally good and believable in the role. And if you really want to call yourself a true fan you really have to see all his work !!

BTW, your postings after the Germany game gave me a big laugh this morning. Not that I'm encouraging you to hit the bottle at home on your own again of course ;o))

Loony Toon, it is indeed a very rare event for me to hit the bottle, alone or otherwise! And it was more accidental than anything else, but it did remind me why I don`t drink much - I just can`t cope with a hangover! I think it`s generally underrated as a dangerous substance - anything that can make you feel as bad as I did yesterday can`t be good for you!

I`ve heard of Romper Stomper, just haven`t seen it. I had no idea he was in it. I know it was slated as a `mindless violence` sort of film over here, but I don`t trust anyone`s opinion but my own, and I shall make an effort to see it.(:o)

Romper Stomper's not bad.....he does give a very good performance in it though...

Mornin` Gav! I shall hunt it out then.(:o)

Morning mum,

Definitely get LA Confidential....I'll eat my dingle hat if you don't enjoy it immensely!!

Good film isn't it Gav ? Am I the only one who thought Crowe, Kevin Spacey and whatshisface off Neighbours looked almost identical in their dark suits ? Mind you, I was concentrating rather more on whatsherface in the red dress. I really must get around to that memory implant.

-- Anonymous, June 19, 2000

Guy someone or other out of neighbours and Kim Basinger in the red dress.....Basinger used to look quite nice didn't she :))

-- Anonymous, June 19, 2000

Oh yes !!! Still does in my book.

It was Guy Pearce I was thinking of, cheers for the prompt.

-- Anonymous, June 19, 2000

I've always thought she was a bit odd....sometimes she could look absolutely stunning and other times she'd look rotten....I definitely think she's over the hill now....

Yup Guy Pearce....he puts in a damn good performance in the film as well....

-- Anonymous, June 19, 2000

But he doesn't look as good in a red dress as Basinger !

There again, there was Priscilla .....
