Adobe PhotoDeluxe vs PhotoGenetics for Mac

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I just bought a Casio QV-3000EX last week and seem to be pretty satisfied with the picture quality. However, I would like to get some editing software for it. Has anyone used both Adobe PhotoDeluxe and PhotoGenetics? Is one better (easier) than the other? I am a novice at this and have read that either program is fairly good but I'm sure some of you have a preference. I downloaded tonight the trial version of PhotoGenetics and really have not had a chance to use it yet. I do not have PhotoDeluxe 2.0 yet. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Both programs serve a different purpose, PhotoGenetics will only do color corrections. I at one point used both for a couple of weeks. If you really get into digital, both will become useless for any serious work. For serious work Photoshop 5.5 is King-of-the hill (some will say others are just as good). Photoshop 5.5 is $550.00 which is more than most want to spend, but for $100.00 Photoshop 5 LE gives you a lot of the same functions that you can grow with and you can upgrade if you want at a later time.
