Andy, you said,

Fascist Editting Demonstration

Maybe you should enlist one of those fascists to help you with your "editting".

And what's with the laziness? Are you getting too bored with this crap to look through the threads for the "highlights" yourself? Put some effort in! Give it that old college try!

It was tacky for the title of your message to be edited, Andy Ray. But think of it this way: at least they didn't delete it. It must of have been after that when the sysops started deleting your messages on sight.

AR,

You missed on this one big time,

"b) I believe generators will be very inexpensive after the first of the year - I could probably get a great deal on one from a local Doomer...) "

I was waiting until after the new year to get a generator myself following just this logic, but the prices went UP. Go figure.

I still haven't bought one BTW, but do browse the auction now and then to look for used diesel ones (FYI as I know it will interest you to no end).

Just procrastinating instead of working, not overly serious as usual,

Frank

I made a total of about 3,000 posts on the old TB2000. The grand total was about 300,000, so I made a 1% contribution to the forum.

Yes, I was a doomer, but I never did make it to 7 on the 10 scale. Yet, Andy Ray seems to feel this need to "pick" on me. This thread, #29, is a thread where I was very vocal. #28, yup, I had my say there too. #26, hey, I was the "star" of that one. And a few weeks ago, my friend, Andy, started an unnumbered thread, asking if I was still ticking... Jeez, based on Andy's posts, I have been involved in more than 10% of the Y2K discussions that went on at TB2000. I must be just as "bad" as Gary North...

You know Andy, based on the advice of my "new friend" Lurkinator, and others, I've been trying, really trying, (play Billy Jack music), to ignore your posts, and stay out of this. But I'm gonna tell you right now, Andy, if you continue to "call me out" I am going to take the gloves off. I am going to come at you, Andy, ONE ON ONE, word for word. Are you up to this, Andy? Mr. Copy and Paste KING, if you want to take me on, be prepared to have an original thought. Your usual one line answer isn't going to cut it, Mr. Ray.

So Any, please tell me, how can I disrupt this forum?

While I was also not here for the whole she-bang, I appreciate the look back... And Following the link andy provided, I came across a christian site (Ccmag.y2k on gospelcom.net---sorry followed so many links, I don't have the exact address) Very interesting and disturbing as I have also run into a few xtians who are so disappointed nothing bad happened.... I guess they are teaching a "radical to hell with ya all" sermon in the churches today, sad...... ----------------------------------------------------------- (written by Steve Hewitt)

Recently, Peter de Jager contacted me by phone. He had been reading our Web site and the many articles we have posted about Y2K. He called to congratulate me on the content of our message and to offer his help in getting the truth out about Y2K. Peter has been one of the main persons to spread alarm about Y2K in the early years, and earlier this year, stunned the "doomers" by announcing that doom had been avoided by the great effort of business and government to solve the Y2K problem. He has spoken across the world on the subject, and has been before a varied audience. However, he shared something with me that startled me. I asked him to put it in writing, and this is a quote from an email he sent me. Peter de Jager stated, "My first direct contact with the Christian community [concerning Y2K] was at a conference at CBN, Pat Robertson's facility. I was astounded at the response... they considered me to be a 'pollyanna', down playing the severity of the problem.

The audience was NOT a technical audience, so their perception of the severity of Y2K was not based on a firsthand knowledge of the issue. They wanted me to tell them that this would be a world-changing event. They made that very clear to me both during the presentation and in numerous private conversations after the event. I have faced much skepticism over the years and even a fair bit of cynicism, but this was the first time I had met a group of people who seemed to look forward to a severe problem and resented any information which contradicted that belief and expectation."

Actually, Andy Ray admitted in a roundabout way last November that a significant portion of "doomers" no longer thought a TEOTWAWKI scenario was likely.

http://hv.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=001pPO

New to Y2K? Concerned about possible failures? Another perspective...

For instance, last year you could separate the Doomers from the Pollys by asking whether or not they believed their power utility would fail where they live. Now, a significant portion of Doomers acknowledge that power will either remain on, or fluctuate in a manageable fashion - as opposed to failing and remaining off for a period measured in days (weeks, or months). (See Your prediction please: Do you believe your local electric utility will deliver uninterrupted power through the 991231 - 000101 roll-over?)

Ken Decker had inadvertently admitted the same thing in Oct., 1999.

The Changing Y2K Argument

Yo, Andy,

So where's The Book? My boss is getting tired of waiting for an original thought from you. He says that if we wanted a rehash of everything ever posted on an Internet forum, we could handle that ourselves. Please call.

Patient Regards, Your Editor

I am going to come at you, Andy, ONE ON ONE, word for word.

Sysyman,

?

I am unsure as to what you intend by your statements - especially the statement posted above. Have I offended you in some way? If I have, I may have been wrong, but I see no reason to apologise as I only intended good, therefore I will not.

As for "threats:" You do not scare me Bruce. Neither you, nor your pathetic "words."

Shouldn't you be about bleating your expertise in another vain attempt to scare people? Are there no innocent women and children to attempt to terrorise lately? No families to assist in breaking up? No "arguments" to convince people to spend money they do not have to "prepare" for another non-event? Are you suffering withdrawals? (I am laughing so much I can barely type...) But seriously...

Trust me, Bruce. I am not "singling you out." You're just another pissant who got all caught up in the meme. (An educated and experienced programmer pissant, as you have noted - but a pissant nonetheless) No one really cares about what you think now - especially me.

And, I'm glad you are making new friends. Hopefully they will make up for the one's you lost after your failed hopes, dreams, and predictions regarding Y2k. My heart goes out to your embarassed family memebers, however, who are helplessly related to you by an accident of birth, for they have no escape.

Vindicated Regards,
Andy Ray

Andy, your prolific prose has sadly suffered in my absence. Methinks it's time to resume your spelling lessons in private. If I spend more time with you, will you desist in exposing your precious posterior to such public scrutiny? It does raise my ire, and my other naughty bits, you know. Apply your teal cosmetics with extra care tonight, little one. The spankings are about to begin!

Anticipatory Regards,
Andy Boy

Hey Andy, if you want to talk to me, my name is Sysman, not Sysyman, or Sissyman. If you want to call me Bruce, I guess I'll cut you a break, but I usually reserve that for my friends.

But you know what, Andy? It's a beautiful evening, here in NJ. I'm going to go sit on my deck, and take in a little bit of nature.

I suggest that you do the same.
