What's this about Pistone and Everton?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I haven't been on here for a few days so forgive me if this is old hat, but Radio Newcastle were talking about Pistone considering a move to Everton for #3m. Can this be? Pistone AND Domi away? Surely not.

Everton fan on the Strawberry at the moment say he has heard that he is a bit of a wuss and is it true.

Must admit, I`m a bit confused on this one too. Of the two, I would prefer Domi to stay, but I did warm to Pistone. I certainly would prefer not to see both of them go!(:o)

this morning's The Times (free in the hotel!) reported that he is going for #3m. Probably just picking up the vibes from here as mentioned a day or so ago.

#3 mill is not enough and shows how strapped for cash the club is. they probably anticipated #3 mill from the sales of some of the gimps, but that is not forthcoming.

I guess the fact that we have agreed a straight cash fee means that Bobby certainly doesn't want Hutchinson or even Barmby?

This morning Jounal (yes...I know, but its E Mailed to me) has the following in it:

>>>>>>>The decision to sell Pistone backs up chairman Freddie Shepherd's claim that Frenchman Didier Domi is going nowhere, but the Italian Under-21 international is by no means certain to join Walter Smith at Goodison Park.<<<<<<

There are then another couple of para's about how he came back quickly from his broken leg etc and how he played badly at Derby (didn't they all) and then ends off with

>>>>Should Pistone leave then Robson will use Domi and Bassedas down the left hand side next season.<<<<<<

So it looks like it is a straight choice between Pistone and Domi, and while I have been banging a drum for Sandro ever since he joined us, and was laughed down for it at times, I do wonder if, long term, Domi might be the better 'keep bet'

Do we anticipate Bassedas to fill the wide left spot in the same sort of fashion that Solano fills the right?

I've mentioned stuff about this before, but I reckon it is a mistake, we must be bloody skint and I'm pissed off 'cos Bobby is getting NO SUPPORT, or seems that way. Surely these paracites that can't even make the reserve side must have some contacts that are up shortly, do they have no pride that means playing is more important that sitting on their arses, crikey I PAY to play not the other way round....

I agree with you to a point TM, but if we have Hughes and Domi then that is adequate cover and adequate quality. It will enable someone to come through the youth system straight into the reserves.

My only gripe is the amount, which as you say seems to point to us being skint.

I think Pistone is hopeless. I admire him fighting back from a broekn leg, in a very un-Italian sort of way but come on he's not top Premiership stuff.

Put in England tersm woudl you have expected him to be in the England squad if he'd been fit, of course not. He can prance up the wing in an Italian stallion sort of way, but not enough. I'd snatch #3m and run fast.

For me Domi's best game as a defender is better than Pistone's best game as a defender. Going forward Domi has more pace and aggression. Having said all that I'd expect Griffin to end up there, or Hughes.

For me Pistone was another one of those Dalglish signing successes. On paper, and probably in MOTD (RIP) highlights could be made to look good. BUT I will look forward to playing Everton if he goes.

For the Newcastle board to even be thinking of selling pistone for #3m just shows that bobby has NO money available. This supposed #12m he has is utter bollocks!! If bobby think aaron hughes is good enough then i must raise my hand in a vote of disagreement. IMHO the kids just not up to it and would be better off else where and with us keeping pistone. I hope we keep pistols and to the Newcastle Board BARGH!
