The English drive on the left and speak English shock!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Name the player and nationality of the player who said the following:
"You cannot compare Chelsea with Juventus, because the two leagues are nothing like each other - and neither are their respective styles of play. During the past season in England I have felt that I have been able to play matches at just 50 per cent of my capabilities.

"I could well have ended my career with Juventus, but I made a considered choice in going to Chelsea.

"They were another experience, and a new challenge for me. Besides, I wanted to play in the Champions League - this is what you must do if you want to remain at the highest level.

"As a result, I was faced with a change of culture, and the need to speak another language.

"But as three-quarters of Chelsea players speak Italian, which I am quite good at, I didn't take English lessons. They didn't help me.

"Everything is so different in England. They drive on the left, and in winter it gets dark at 3.30 pm.

"My four-year-old son Dylan tells me: "Daddy, I'm fed up of having to wear a coat and hat.'

"I want my family to feel happy. My wife Claude likes to stay at home. She is a solitary person, and life is harder for her in England than elsewhere.

"As for Dylan, he hates football. He associated it with his Dad being away. It is hard for him when I set out for a match in the afternoon or evening.

"He keeps on telling me: 'I'm going to stop you from going to play football.'"

Get the violins oot! And don't let the plane door hit you on the way to Italy or France, Mr Deschamps! ;-))

It's hard to take anybody seriously who has a wife named Claude.

Not to mention a cheeky, football hating son called 'Dylan'.
I expect the #50 grand a week provides some compensation for being forced to wear a coat and needing to take the sunshades off.

Perhaps if he'd have played slightly above the 50% he thought he needed Chewsee might have got a place in the Champions League.
