Wonder Woman was my goddess. I also like the Powerpuff Girls. I used to think Green Lantern was hot. And Robin, too. (The old Robin in the Italian-flag-colored suit -- not Chris O'Donnell.)

When I was about seven I thought Spiderman was a great issuer of bon mots... but now I know better.

Electra Woman & Dyna Girl, from the Sid & Marty Krofft Show....mainly because I was 13 and they are HOTTIES!!!!

My first crushes were Batman, Spiderman and Aquaman. When I was five, my grandmother bought me a bride costume for Halloween that I refused to wear unless she made me a mask and I could be Batman's Bride. Wonder Woman is my all time favorite, though. I still want to be Wonder Woman when I grow up.

I wore Super Girl Underoos when I was 7.

My 6-year-old son gave me a Bitty Cuddles Bubbles (Powerpuff Girl) for Mother's day.

Aquaman was damn sexy.

Do Slayers count? I wanna be Faith.

For a long time, I liked Green Lantern. Mostly because his ring made him so versatile. You know? You need to go to the store, but if you fly, people will freak out? Easy! Just project a green motorcycle and you're GONE.

But my all-time fave is Daredevil. I mean, he's blind. And he knows kung-fu. (Eat your heart out, Keanu.)

Spiderman- because he was so literate and cool. Batman was too much of a drama queen for me - Superman was a bit to highminded and moral. I also enjoyed the Hulk because he was tormented. I think that's probably enough insight into my weird little brain.

i wanted to be wonder woman when i was 7 years old. the estate i grew up on was kinda like a building site when i was growing up [ school being built..new houses etc] and when we were out playing i'd go hide behind a pile of bricks or something and then do a twirl and then i'd be ready to kick ass in cops and robbers

Shazam and Isis. And Wonder Woman.

I know they're modern, but LONG LIVE THE POWERPUFF GIRLS!!! I so desperately want to be Buttercup. Lillipi, I agree. Faith rocks!

-- Anonymous, June 16, 2000

Buttercup kicks ass.

I'm not sure, but I believe Electra Girl went on to become Marlena on Days of Our Lives. Is that right?

I'll have to go with Rogue, from the x-men. She's so super-hot, she somehow even makes the cajun accent sexy. And, because of her powers (feeding off other's life force, by touch), she can't have sex. She must be so pent up right now... Gives me the shivers.

-- Anonymous, June 16, 2000

yes indeedy, that is Marlena on Days...she used to be a superhero! Cool!

Do super villians count? I ADORED Cat-Woman...I WAS Cat-Woman, dammit! I wore my Cat-Woman Halloween costume as pajamas every night when I was a kid. I had plastic claws that I wore to school every day 'til I accidentally made some kid bleed (oops)! Plus, I had a huge crush on Batman, and since she got to hook up with him sometimmes...purrrrrrrr

HEY! Dyna Girl was Debra Winger.

Cat Woman rules.

HA!! to Debra Winger!

Wonder Woman, Ororo (Storm, X-men), etc. Agree w/ Daredevil being nominated, that's impressive shit, man! Powerpuffs are adorable. :) Tick: Spoooon! Invisible Woman.

I can't think of any more, alas, right off the top of my head. But I know there are some.

BATMAN! i heart batman. handsome, rich, mysterious, looks great in rubber... what's not to love?

-- Anonymous, June 21, 2000

The Rachel Summers Phoenix. Punched Nova clear to the moon (which didn't even faze her; gotta love those Heralds of Galactus).

Does anyone remember Dazzler, the roll-skating, disco, superhero? I know I have some of her comics here. Hilarious!

Also Spiderwoman was another neat one. I used to have a videotape that was hilarious until my ex-boyfriend took it cause he insisted he bought it which is so untrue. Of course now he doesn't know where it is. Grrr

Dazzler! Oh my god, yes. I do remember. Was given a free guest pass for Dragon*Con (oy vey!) and went to the dealer's room (got a Hello, Tarot while there, BTW) and they had some Dazzler comic books. I saw her and something triggered a memory and I was able to name many of the super heroes pictured on the front covers with her. THe odd thing is that I don't remember ever buying any--I'd still haev them, if so-- but I vivdly remembered her anyway. It's been bothering me because I don't have a clue where I remember her from. I was the eldest child and none of my friends had comic books. Maybe I read them in grocery stores a lot.

Katy Keene was also keen, but more my mother's era than mine. The whole point was that she was very fashionable, so wore imaginative costumes (including a platform pump for a hat decades before _Brazil_). There were frequently paper dolls and readers sent in ideas for outfits that Katy was to wear (more costume changes than in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert) and I was fascinated by the more surreal ones. Lots of 40's-style hairdos and hats and accessories. *pine* My mom tossed the dolls and outfits and books into the trash for some minor childhood infraction and I haven't really fully forgiven her for it yet, particularly because she accused me of being irresponsible and losing them a few months later. Talk about rubbing salt in the wound! To this day she refuses to admit she threw them out herself in a fit of pique and scolds me for losing her old paper dolls and comic books. WHATever.

But Katy wasn't a superhero. The superheroes in her case would be her closets, for her 24-a-day costume changes. And the uncanny ability to wear pumps and a purse and huge Bakelite-like jewelry items with her bathing costume...all without embarassment.

Oh Mighty Isis... I had a huge crush on her. She did freaky things with her eyes.

Xena rocked for the first two seasons...

Hong Kong Fooey's cat.

Flash Gordon. Kicks all the others asses hands down man. Or Felix the Cat. His magic bag was awsome. Of course for modern super heroes no one kicks ass better than Clint Eastwood. Truly a super hero. James
