Big Drop at Big K... For the first quarter ended
April 26, 2000, Kmarts (Troy, MI) net income dropped
60.7% to $22 million, while sales remained flat
growing just 1.4% to $8.20 billion. Comparable-store
sales were also flat. In Thursdays analyst conference
call, chairman Floyd Hall blamed part of the decline
on difficulties in getting timely shipments from
SUPERVALU and Fleming, which recently agreed to supply
the Companys grocery and related products.
