Quotably Quoted #28

Thanks so much for all you have done! These are trying times but I believe "right" will prevail. If it does not, just know that because of you many people have been helped. We have received valuable information that we could not have acquired through the media. This is the place that provides information first. Perhaps we should all thank Mr. Greenspun and MIT also.

I like the 10 minutes between posts idea. It could be a problem for people like Carl and Homer that post a bunch of things in a row, but I don't think they would mind if it puts an end to this junk.

Also, maybe Philip could add some sort of "switch" that could be turned on to block an IP address from posting. A permanent block could cause problems for valid posters, but something that could be "turned on" when the SPAM starts, then "turned off" later could work.

Any other ideas folks? <:)=

If a 10 minute switch is the only practical way to stop the problem, I can live with it...

You're a good man Carl.

Perhaps Philip could even add a list, maintainable by the sysops, of people that are "exempt" from the 10 minute rule. The list could be based on at least a partial IP address, instead of an e-mail address. Otherwise LL could start SPAMing as Carl!

Just a thought. <:)=

A hearty Hip Hip Hooray! from my corner. RE: Suggestions about what Mr. Greenspun can do - I was recently reminded that we are guests. I would like to volunteer to help or contribute financially to aid the continuation of this forum. It provided a "Civil Defense" type of preparedness info last year that I found invaluable.

Doomer homage to their fascist heroes - deniers of free speech and open discourse. They are heralded and defended - even after their deception is an historical fact. One supposes memetic doomers deserve each other, even now, in their pitiful and disillusioned and lonely state...pity.

Annointed one,

"Fascist" is a noun; a member of the Fascist Party. The adjective is "fascistic". Just thought you'd like to know.

Grammatical regards,

Nemesis,

Can't speak for A.R., but "no kidding"? I'll have to look that up when I get home.

Thx,

Frank

Mr. Ray,

Where's the finished draft of your book? Why don't you answer our calls? Whatsamatter? MEME got your tongue?

"deniers of free speech"

What the hell are you talking about Andy? Maybe you call LadyLogic spamming the forum, with several hunderd posts, all in a row, with the same heading, free speech. I call it abuse of freedom.

So I guess you support spamming, Andy? You probably do, since you also support "how to disrupt a forum".

AR,

So anyone who doesn't like your posting style is a doomer? I think this forum will outlast your hubris. How's that for pollyanna-ism?
