For the ten-thousandth time --

Gas prices, adjusted for inflation, are RIGHT NOW in the LOWEST 10% of ALL PRICE HISTORY from 1918 thru the present. That is a fact. Not an opinion. A fact.

People screaming about gas prices are, quite frankly, idiots.

Anyone who does not understand the concept of inflation, real dollar valuation compared to a real dollar year benchmark; these types of terms -- has no business posting anything dealing with gas prices.

Because they quite simply understand nothing to do with the concept of money itself.

The facts are that gasoline prices have skyrocketed over the last year, up from $1.11 to $1.56. Regardless of whether this is still a low price by historical standards, the percentage increase over the past year in constant dollars has been very great, which has put a tremendous dent in many people's budgets. Anyone who doesn't understand that has no business writing anything about gas prices.

Chicken Little, it seems that you, quite frankly, are the idiot. Who gives a shit about 1918 and adjusting prices for inflation and the value of the dollar? We are getting close to the point that gas will be TWICE as much as it was ONE YEAR ago! Quit trying to be a statistical smartass and face reality, people don't live compared to 100 years ago, they live from day to day.

Chicken Little,

I had to laugh at your post. You are so arrogant about understanding what inflation is, but you completely miss the big picture because of the little details. The big picture is that the governmrnt has been robbing us through inflation for generations, but instead of being outraged about this theft, all that you can say is that people don't understand how cheap gas is in "real" dollars.

In a way I guess that you are right without even knowing it. Dollars were "real" when you could exchange them for gold. Today they are fancy monopoly money with nothing but a mountain of debt as backing.

When the world starts dumping all their dollars, the sky will fall faster than you can say, "adjusted for inflation".

"We are getting close to the point that gas will be TWICE as much as it was ONE YEAR ago!" -- Hawk ,,,,,,,,, You don't live in the Chicago area because it's more than TWICE as MUCH ALREADY. Gas receipts from last year this time the price was .969 per gallon this week 2.199 for regular.
