British offer Germans brown underpants

LONDON (Reuters) - A British manufacturer on Tuesday sent an emergency supply of brown underwear to the German soccer team before their weekend clash with England in Euro 2000.

"We want them to avoid embarrassment when they are taken to the cleaners on Saturday," said a spokesman for the British underwear brand Brass Monkeys. "A poor showing could backfire," said managing director Kevin Higgs.

Five pairs of the limited edition undies will also be auctioned on the Brass Monkeys' web site -- www.brassmonkeys.co.uk -- and the proceeds will go to a testicular cancer charity.<<
