Well, the Spanish knew where to place the blame..

AS PORTUGAL celebrated their national team's victory over England on Monday, one Spanish newspaper placed the blame firmly on goalkeeper David Seaman by calling him "a piece of meat with eyes."

National sports paper AS credited victory to a miserable performance by Seaman rather than the brilliance of Luis Figo and Rui Costa.

"England -a team without a goalkeeper", said the headline, while their reporter was even more critical. He wrote: "Seaman was static in Portugal's first two goals and slow off his line for the third. He was the best Portuguese player.

"England would sometimes do far better if they played with a goalkeeper. Keegan insists on starting with that piece of meat with eyes called Seaman. England squandered the amazing start which they had made in just over quarter of an hour because of the man with the moustache that is placed under its crossbar".

Just goes to show that their journos are no better than ours...

I've definitely wanted Martin in for this tournament but I don't think that any of the goals last night can be blamed on Seaman....he flapped a couple of times but was blameless for the goals...

Adams, Campbell and the mystery of the missing midfield are the more likely culprits in this misadventure....

I think Martyn should be given a chance in the Jorman game. You say that Seaman was not to blame Gav, but just maybe his "defence" have no confidence in him???
