Delete please. If the the "delete key" is still working, this makes 3 requests.

Ah yes. The ol' "3 delete requests rule". Anybody remember that short lived policy? Once upon a time, on a TB2000 forum far far away, there dwelled some moderators who, in an effort to silence those who would voice an opposing viewpoint, implemented the infamous "3 delete request rule". The rule was simple- If/when 3 "regulars" on the forum posted a request to delete a message, the moderators would heed their cries, feel their pain, reach out from the darkness and delete the offending message.

Well, to the best of my recollection, the rule lasted approximately 4 days before it was silently laid to rest, never to be spoken of again. (Except, I'm sure, behind the moderator's closed doors where they no doubt realized their folly and vowed to at least try to think things through "next time".)

It was quite funny to see how many "delete requests" a Decker or a Flint or a Hoffmeister post would instantly attract each time they posted. OH, and Carlos, if you're reading this- Yes, this took place well before the mass censorship was undertaken by the moderators. I don't know how many posts were deleted via this rule, but contrary to what you argued back then, there *was* censorship/deletions going on at the time.

Doomers, where are they now? Good question but they are not here so why are you?

-- (nemesis@awol.com), June 13, 2000.

The doomers are here. They are just cowardly hiding behind new names. They are nothing more than biting, stinging gnats. Harmless really (but I'm glad I don't live to close to anyofem! Mentaly unstable bunch, to say the least!)

-- Super Polly (FU_Q_Y2kfreaks@hotmail.com), June 13, 2000.

Super,

So, are they "cowardly lions?" I always had doomers pegged as "scare-crows" (If they only had a brain...)!

or Tin(foil) Men.

-- (hmm@hmm.hmm), June 13, 2000.

Andy Ray-

From what I can tell, there are only a few "diehard Doomers" still dropping in around here and (cowards that they are) only chime in anonymously on this uncensored forum. Most of the diehards either vanished w/out a trace or followed Yourdon over to his [un]EZboard forum.

On the other hand, many of those who were "of the other camp" (Cap'n Fun, Uncle Deedah, Debbie and others) have come forward and condemned the old moderator regime and/or unashamedly admitted to having been mislead and are now valuable contributors to this forum. (Had you been checking in since this forum's inception, you would no doubt have seen that.) These people have all my respect for what they have been willing to accept, admit and/or change in their previous way of thinking.

For what it's worth, and in case you weren't aware...

-- CD (costavike@hotmail.com), June 13, 2000.

Hey CD, I was a doomer for a day. Quite a bit more than a day, actually. And I performed the obligatory condemning. Even brought a shrubbery with me the first few times I posted.

I tell ya, can't get no respect around here.

-- Bingo1 (howe9@shentel.net), June 13, 2000.

LOL Bingo. A mere oversight on my part. Yes, you are definitely now in the camp of "the good guys", whatever that conglomeration of humanity may now be be called ;)

-- CD (costavike@hotmail.com), June 13, 2000.

Ah, the cool breeze of salvation blowing through my shorts! Praised be CD! I'm delivered from the clutches of Satan's minions into the waiting arms of...Andy Ray!?!?!?

-- Bingo1 (howe9@shentel.net), June 13, 2000.

CD,

Thank You for the fair shake and what looks to me to be an accurate assessment of the situation.Glad someone notices ; )

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), June 13, 2000.

Please allow me to clarify; I should have said "the hardcore doomers are still here".

I have no problem with people who acknowledge there "wrongness" re y2k (and I don't mean being wrong about the outcome, I mean those who treated other people just like sh*t, but have since apologized)

Its the revisionist historians that I take issue with, and the dorkwads that don't have the stones to hang around and TAKE IT after dishing it out for so many months!

Scurrvy dogs! (If you are one of 'those' [and they KNOW who they are] just keep repeating my e-mail address over and over outloud....)

SP,

I readily admitted my wrongness but have no apologies to make as I did not treat anyone like shit, that is not my creedo in life.*IF* things had have gone the other way,you would have been welcome in my house.

BTW,"Scurrvy dogs!" is a very understated way of addressing the assholes you are talking about.

capnfun,

Please do tell, is tonight's featured libation of "Buttery Nipples" some type of beverage or your idea of foreplay?

-- Grace (SincerelyGrace@aol.com), June 14, 2000.

Grace,

"Buttery Nipples" are shooters/shots with a creamy butterscotch taste : )
