What are they up to? Didn't notice anything this morning. It's not Northern Electric come to take all the lights off is it? I know they have withdrawn illumination funding.

So who's got 50p for the 'lecky meter then?

Repainting job, the white screen is pvc sheeting affixed to scaffolding. When you drive under the bridge there is a deck of scaffold boards acting as a protective tunnel.

Isn't that really a giant beach towel for some lads getting changed to go swimming? Look! You can see their silhouettes!

-- Anonymous, June 13, 2000

If it's a giant beach towel the Jormans will have put it there to book the bridge early.

Looks like you were right about that beach towel

That was quite gut-wrenching to see on the way in this morning; how long's it going to hidden from us for?

articstic perspective coming up:

Its not the work of those two French artists (Cristo & Jean-Claude)is it?

They "wrapped" the Reichstag in Berlin a few years ago and some large hills in California. Could be that they've discovered the toon.

Why do cities hold particular affection for bridges?

-- Anonymous, July 10, 2000

My son (aged 4)asked why the bridge was covered, "to keep the rain off when they're painting" he was answered, What colour are they painting it?" he continued to enquire, "Green, I think" came the reply. "It is already green" was his response and you know it is already green.
