A friend of mine bought a Seneca view camera in beautiful shape at a flea market.it has a plate that says competitor camera seneca camera company rodchester ny.Its a 6.5x8.5? and like I said in almost perfect cond. the bellows leak like hell but that can be fixed. My question is does any know the worth of a camera like this or someone that would know the worth. My friend wants to convert it to 5x7 but wants to know if its to valuable to toy with. Any info helpful.-J

unless you have certification that this once belonged to Ansel Adams, the 5x7 back and new bellows will significantly increase its value in the present market.

Check out this website:
for a story on the Seneca Competitor 8x10. I, too, have a Seneca 5x7 Improved model and am looking for a reducing back to take it from 5x7 to 4x5.

Seneca cameras of various formats and vintages come up for sale on e bay fairly frequently. You could check the auction history section of e bay to get an idea of the prices they've been going for.
