Looking at the cover of the June/July 200 Orienteering North America, I find myself wondering...

where's Snorkel?

I wondered that myself. Looking at the photo, I think both Dan and Gene were on the other side of the group of runners.

I looked at the photo as well. The photo shows the back of the pack, or at least the middle. Snorkel and Mean Gene would be out front.

Gene, Dan, do you recognize anyone?

I have very bad short term memory. Who are you?

Um, I meant in the photo, as in 'if you look at that photo, does it bring back the memory of that crowd and **do you recognize anyone** in the photo as being present in the crowd that you remember at the start?'

Oh, nevermind. I would guess that would be the last thing in your mind. No way you would be standing around talking, like Mark Frank, about how you loved to drive your kids nuts by saying "poke-mAn" instead of "poke-mOn"; waiting for your runner to come in. Guess there might be a little different pressure running with the starting pack...

One rumor that's been floating about is that Snorkel is in Carrolton, Missouri. I wouldn't want to bet the farm on that, however, as snorkelmongering has a bit of a bad reputation and even the best of us have been known to be mistaken. We do have people in Carrolton to check on this and will let you know what we find out.

Why doesn't ONA cover the relays? After about a year of the new people in ONA I really don't see much improvement. The entire magazine (or, to be fair 95% of it) is really just "fluff". They have, for instance, coverage of local meets. That's pretty weird. Then they have that nurse who writes a column every month. I wonder if she gets paid? I've even seen the likes of Fred Veler contributing to ONA. I think that eventually USOF dues and donations to the general fund really do end up at ONA in the long run. What a shame.
