New score predictions game

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

This probably won't work and the formatting will probably go all over the shop, but lets give it a go.

Announcing a new competition, at this moment for Euro 2000, but if it all works, we may start on for all the Toon matches next season.

Go on, makes us think life is worth it by entering.

The details will follow in a minute, but as with Geordies team pick contest, I will start a new thread for each match and will get the system to notify via E Mail.....so plase,. if you are using the board only put in your predictions, don't overload it with other issues. If discussion is needed on it, we can start one without the notification. OK....thanks a lot: --------------------------------------------------------------------

PREDICTIONS LEAGUE

The idea is to predict the outcome of each of the Euro 2000 matches - done on a match by match basis.

Entry is dead easy, simply E Mail your predictions to: euro2000predictions@hotmail.com

1) Win, lose, draw, (Changes to Win/Lose in knock out stages)

2) The exact score

3) The first scorer

Points will then be given for each correct predictions. Category 1 (Win, Lose, Draw) = 2 points Category 2 (Exact Score) = 4 points Category 3 (first scorer) = 6 points

Get all three right and earn a bonus of 3 points.

So for example, if you state that England will beat Germany 10-0 and that David Seaman will score the first goal, and it happened then you will get 15 points, If England won 10-0 but Shearer scored the first then you would only get 6 points.

If an own goal is scored, this would be considered as a no goalscorer (ie a 0-0) for category 3, but categories 1 & 2 would still take into account the actuality.

The cut off point for each match will be 15 minutes prior to kick-off. This will be as per the date and time stamp on Hotmail.

A name will be required on each E Mail, this will allow a league table to be constructed as the competition progresses. The full results and table will be published on the Daily Toon Website (http://www.dailytoon.co.uk) and the top ten will be released on an occasional basis onto the Greenspun and Strawberry Board message boards and to the LondonMags E Mail mailing list.

Go on.have a go, it could be fun.
