so where do we stand?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

1. Shearer injured..to what extent..? 2. One in...an unknown Argie to most of us.. 3. One target taken from under our noses despite noises being made about his signing 4. No signs of movement out regading all those the management want rid of 5. Manure/Arse/liverpool/Spurs with significant signings already

PLUS point - Young Bobby Robson

What worries me is a 52,000 stadium with empty seats by October when Newcastle send out Robinson and Ketsbaia up front

Can see it happening

I need to see Clarky's notion of YBR pulling out some rabbits

The one name that was linked some weeks ago....and which then went very quiet on was Sa Pinto.......I know that Jaoh(sp) Pinto is on a free, but what do you reckon to Sa?

I'd love it me......

Pete it doesn't look good does it. I don't know anything about this Lovencrands but Sky were touting him,or his agent was, as the new Michael Laudrup. A mate of mine from Denmark whose team came 2nd in their premier league doesn't really know of him, says he hasn't made much of a breakthrough over there, so he can hardly be so spectacular. Still it is worrying, maybe predictable that this sort of thing happens. YBR was still on his hols yesterday while Rangers nicked him. I have confidence in him getting the right mix for the start of next season though. He is linked interestingly enough with KIKU, that one does make you speculate about the Big Yin being around. #15,000,000 was bandied about by a certain Turkish club bid. That would finance a couple of good signings.

I'm not gonna get too up tight over this Danish kid - he may prove to be a good 'un, or he may not. His signing wasn't going to make us competitive overnight. The entire deal smells to me - looks like someone's taken a pay-off to make sure he signed for Rangers. So, f**k him, move on.
As Pete suggests, it's all very frustrating as we still seem to be at the starting gate while our serious competitors are all doing business. However, there's still lots of time and an awful lot of good players are going to be moving over the next 4-5 weeks. We just have to trust BR to do the biz; get some out, get some in, and off we go again. Not like me to be so philosophical, is it?

You are certainly right there Clarky......say f**k him and move on.....I mean lets face it, we can always take solace in the fact that the last player that Rangers thought they had 'stolen' from under the noses of the Toon turned out to be a real brilliant buy for them didn't he.................... Agreed, ITK. Going to Rangers is a cop out, and I think I even saw that he admitted that the quality of the football was much lower than in England. How many players do Rangers nurture and bring through from raw youngsters to top internationals...um..can't think of any. It's just a graveyard for unambitious mercenaries. If that's the sort of ambition Lovenkrands has, then we don't need him, he's obviously not up to it.

I was hoping that Rangers were just using it as a lever on Negri, but obviously not. Hope the money makes him really happy.

Shouldn't be too hard on the lad, Danes are generally young for their age (don't start school til 7) and its easy to underestimate the status that Laudrup has over here. His brother and Laudrup seem to have had more influence over him than anything else.

That said, I agree with all that we don't need players who are not enthusiastic about playing in black and white, especially when their potential is still a long way from proven.

Let's face it...yer bolloxed!....it'll be 15th or 16th next season.

Ok..to be fair....teams who could and should do better than Newcastle

Aha, the subtlety of your wind up almost escaped me.

You're going to have to explain Leicester though (we'll ignore s@$~#"$land if you don't mind)

Don't take Leicester lightly. They have a great manager in O'Neil and a fine striker in Heskey. :-)

-- Anonymous, June 09, 2000

Which planet have you been on mate. O'neil went to Celtic 3 days ago. True football wisdom from you son!

-- Anonymous, June 09, 2000

No need to be rude matey when you get entertained on here , achieves little . The O'neill and Heskey comment went right over my head mind i didnt know Lancastrians had a subtle/sophisticated side .. oh thats right they dont .
