According to Royal archives, Andrew went to see Norwich City play Chelsea, accompanied by the Bishop of Norwich, in January 1973 at the age of 12. From early beginnings, he has since attended other matches and visited grounds.

In November 1997 the Duke opened Sunderland Stadium of Light.

He supported England during the last World Cup finals and saw the international team play Tunisia in France in June 1998.

He's lucky he's never been England manager (I think he's been identified as second on the current short list for the top job), as he has no record of having, at any point, picked Super Kev for the England team. He would not have been welcome to open the SoL otherwise.
