Problem with my Nikon LS2000 ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I've had the LS2000 for about 4 weeks and have noticed a problem with lines appearing across areas of high contrast, almost as if a whole row of pixels has shifted across by about 4 or pixels. ie

#####000ooo... ...ooo000#### #####000ooo... ...ooo000#### #########000ooo... ...ooo000#### #####000ooo... ...ooo000#### #####000ooo... ...ooo000####

this happens approx every 8 - 12 pixels down the scan.

It is only noticable at a magnification of 500% or more in Photoshop and appears to occur only where there is a definite dark to bright line down the scan, but it concerns me as the scanner wasn't doing it before today.

Has anyone had a similar problem, or does anybody have an idea what could be causing this ?

My problem is that i have a lot of scanning to complete in the next few weeks and i could really do with not sending the scanner back for repair just yet.

Many thanks

sorry again the graphic didn't come out at all like it was supposed to,

but any feedback on the problem would be greatly appreciated.

Check your SCSI connections and that the SCSI line is correctly terminated. Also make sure that there is no source of electrical interference near to the scanner or computer, for instance try moving the scanner further away from the monitor. Re-install the driver software. If all this checks out, return the scanner, it must be faulty.
