Look ma, the Irish dance lessons finally came in handy!

One of the more amusing sights at tonight's Ireland v US game was seeing the Irish bench standing in row, wearing pretty pink, yellow and blue rain ponchos jigging around in a vain attempt to keep warm. However their secret strategy of bringing the very worst of Irish weather to New England in June, paid off. They managed a 1-1 draw! And actually could have won if they'd only buried some of numerous chances. It was hard to tell if Ireland played well for fielding such a weak team, or the US were that bad. Then again, in the middle of brutal Nor'easter(3.5 inches of rain so far today and 30mph winds), and a 20min power outage in the 72nd minute, this was really the ugly side of "the beautiful game". ;-) Good lord....I wore my supposedly waterproof winter boots and I'll be surprised if they dry out by next winter! There many layers of clothes hanging around my apartment drip drying. Good lord, could it possibly have rained any harder?! Still, I had a fantastic time. Great crowd (16,000+ insane people came out for the game) and laughing myself silly with one of the other volunteers. Tomorrow I'll have to watch the tape of the game so I can see what was going on without the interference of rain blowing into my face. ;-)

Hey Ciara - did Steve Tinnan play for Ireland, the young Fulham midfielder that Bobby's 'supposed' to be running the rule over ?

Saw the coverage from the game on the news and thought of you! A useful training exercise for Kingston Park...only much warmer :-)

I heard the US goal was a mile offside...any truth to this?

Don't think I heard Tinnan mentioned, but the PA is awful(to be kind) and with the rain lashing into the hood of my rain poncho, it was hard to hear anything.

Bobby, Razov(US) was way offside for the goal - so I heard on the radio this morning, and from my smart wimpy friend who decided to stay home and watch it on tv last night. Guess that explains why the Irish players seemed so het up about it. From where I was it looked like their backline had just stopped allowing Razov through. Hmph, and here I'd been so pleased at Ireland managing a draw. Now I'm upset. :-/
