LOST CAUSES

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I overheard someone on the tube this morning slagging off oasis - the gist being they aren't any good anymore.

that made me want to go out and buy definitely maybe just as act of defiance against 'public opinion' -

i have to say married with children is a good song, however naff.

i am experiencing nufc related bloody mindedness?

for me oasis = shearer

l love a lost cause...

You'd best go out and buy what's the story as well. Wonderwall and don't look back in anger are IMHO classics.

I'm one of the few people I know who actually think "Standing on the shoulders of Giants" is pretty good....a couple of excellent tracks and the rest aren't bad :))

Shearer = Shane McGowan

Underrated and misunderstood yet a genius in our midst, mocked but telling us eternal truths

that was more pretentious than I care to think about...

lyrics like "l hate the way you're so sarcastic when you're not very bright" and "what's the point of looking for a job when there's nothing worth working for"

are inspired

Shurley you mean "insipid"

They write excellent pop music, but they are hardly lyrics to live your life by

For quality lyrics try The Kinks or Blur for that matter...or as I say The Pogues

Ahh..Shane McGowan. The elite Westminster public school boy with a social conscience..;-)

The Pogues!!! Ahhhh...they were fantastic at one time! That reminds me..must add Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash to the collection of tapes for my drives to Washington (of the DC variety) and Columbus(of Ohio)! :-)
