What are good CD-r's to make VCD'd withgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread |
I am trying to make VCD's and having no luck playing them on my DVD/VCD player by Pioneer. I have heard that certain colors are better for VCD( ie. blue, gold) Can someone recommend a good brand that seems to work consistently?

I answered my own question. I tried using a CD-RW instead of a CD-R and it works in my DVD player.

Pioneer DV-505 - But it seems to play VCD written on CD-RW fine

I had DV505 once. It doesn't recognize CD-Rs. It recognizes only certain types of CD-RWs. Either you continue spending for CD-RW or ditch that set-top and get a DV525 for cheaper CD-Rs.

i agree with Martinez. my older pioneer 606d could only read cdrw (and memorex blue bottom only cdrs). I then got the 525 and that has read everything i have thrown at i

I tried the most common cd-rs that are available to us. I found that most DVD/VCD or whatever players will read silver bottom cd-rs and greater than some of them gold bottoms and the worst cd-rs to use for VCDs are the blue and green bottoms.
