l'd have him back too. steve w should never have been allowed to leave. and besides it would translate as villa giving us 3mill which would be very funny...

What about putting him back into midfield? It's where he started wasn't it?

If he isn't good enough for Villa, he isn't good enough for us.

You have a point Dougal but as the article in the chronicle said...you don't become a bad player overnight....maybe it's just Gregory's style of play that doesn't suit him.....

Not saying we should but also not saying we shouldn't...

True, Gav, although, on that basis, we could buy Sutton((-: I saw him a couple of times playing for Villa and he had the best work ethic in their entire team, bless him.

I'd think twice about having him back. If we didn't have all this dead wood to get shot of, it might have been worth a dabble cos I think he'd be better as a second string player than any of the lot we're trying to shift.

The idea of having another committed Geordie in the side plus being #3m up on Villa is tempting...but I'd rather be #4m up and saving the wage bill for a cheaper classier foreign type looking to make a mark on the PL.

Not a chance! We have Barton, Griffin, Domi, Pistone, Hughes all of whom Robson rates in different positions esp. Domi.

He was shocking by the time we sold him. Everyone was urging him to do well but getting straight on Barton's back as soon as he took a turn in the side. All that support and he simply couldn't find another NUFC player with a pass. They say it's getting married that did it.

they said the same thing about Steve Davis, perhaps having ginger and then getting married has an effect on your career.

Hmm maybe something to do with them being ginger and therefore never being laid before?

Hehehe.....I'm legging it out of that door......someone save my coat for me!! :))

how about sticking him at centre back? less dodgy distribution woes [he could just be trained to stick it out wide to the mighty Warren] and at least he'd add a bit of spirit to the defence

-- Anonymous, June 05, 2000

I was about to say the same as Shagga. Centre half, maybe not first choice but capable, some of his best games were played there (as I'm led to believe) also, could you think of anyone else better to have on the bench???
1 million, I'd have him (as Dougal would say...)

Forget it. Watson is past his best - he was when he left. His distribution is worse than Marc Bosnich. If we're gonna get all sentimental, get Clarky back (no, not the one who posts on here - he hasn't gone). At least he can pass the ball. Thanks Steve, but no thanks.

No you don't become a bad player overnight. He was always bad.

Call me sentimental, but I would take back both Watson and Clark. We need more passion.

Sentimental .

Oh and Gav im sorry to disprove your theory , im a bit ginger ( im not telling you what bit ) and get laid very often thank you ; - ))

Doesn't count if you pay for it...
