Etymology of the name Morella?

I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the name Morella. Can anyone tell me why Poe chose such a name? I'm writing a thesis on the repetition of history and its consequences on the larger significance of the text, and using 'Morella' as an example of this.

I'm assuming that the name is of Spanish decent, but would like to know more about the meaning of the name.

Hello,

did you know that Morella is the name of a magic village, with an old Castle and with a great history, in the province of Castellon,in region of Valencia, in Spain? I'm not from there but I know there. There are different opinion about the name 'Morella', one of these is related to 'moro' that literally meant colored, in general but that was utilized in the past as 'muslim', in Spain and in Italy too.
