Problem with TMPEG

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Dear friends,

I have problem with TMPEG. After I enconded my 10 sec AVI file to NTSC VCD compliant (video 1150, audio 224) with TMPEG, yes the result I think is better than with PANASONIC, but I don't know why the 10 sec, become 47 sec in the display of media player. In fact it only plays 10 sec, and the arrow time suddenly jump to the end of the movie. Consequently, when I put the 1 hour mpg encoded by TMPEG into NERO, the time displays abruptly over the limit !

What did I do wrong ? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you very much for your kind attention.

Sunar.

PS: I'd like to know also, if there is any possibility TMPEG become as a plug-in like PANASONIC for Adobe Premiere ? I mean so I can direct edit the AVI then direct encode to mpg.

I have tested TMPEG on a 5-minute Matrox MJPEG-coded AVI that had a resolution of 352x240 and 44K/16b/stereo sound. It took ages to do so compared even with Panasonic and I agree that at least in the color saturation department it looks better than the Panasonic. I didn't encounter problems; the time length of the created .MPG matched that of the source .AVI file exactly. I haven't tried any other AVI codec. If I were U I will capture different files using different AVI codecs with different resolutions and compare the results. One very good plus factor of TMPEG is it can now accomodate >2GB source files.

I also have been having problems with TMPEG. Try using a longer AVI. It appears that TMPEG will always freeze up in the middle of a 2 gigabyte size AVI. I wonder if it is not properly designed to handle 2 gig files. Concerning color saturations, it is better than panasonic especially if you set the saturation for TV. Do not use TV setting, it really washes out the color while the PC is minimally changed. Also it takes about 4 x longer to use the TMPEG over Panasonic. Still for free, it is okay.
