Transformer Fire Grounds Flights at Boston's Logan Airport The Associated Press

BOSTON (AP) - A power outage grounded flights at Logan International Airport Thursday night. Airport spokesman Phil Orlandella said the entire airport was affected, including the gates and jet bridges, he said.

"We're slowing things down and if this isn't resolved there's a possibility we can close down the airport," he said.

The outage was caused by a transformer fire in a suburb north of Boston, a spokesman for the Chelsea Fire Department said.

Boston Edison spokesman Mike Monahan said about 13,000 residential and business customers also lost power, most in Chelsea and East Boston, where the airport is located.
