Donation to heart disease research

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Maine Coon Cats : One Thread

I recently lost my companion of nine years to heart disease. I was told by the vet that Maine Coon are prone to this malady. I am interested in donating to research in Timber's honor toward possibly finding a cure. I found a research cardiologist on the West coast named Dr. Kittleson but I wish to go with someone on the East coast if possible, only because I feel the benefits for local breeders would be realized faster due to the geography.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Dr. Phil Fox with the Animal Medical Center in Manhattan is doing research on HCM in Maine Coons. You might conatact him regarding a donation. Dr. Kittleson has provided valuable research to all MC breeders and owners throughtout the country. So if you decide to contribute to his research you will be assisting not just breeders on the West Coast, but those throughout the world. It is a lovely thing you wish to do in rememberance of your cat and I am so sorry for your loss.
