Is there a CF Card Reader,MAC platform for Parallel or SCSI connection?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Is there a Compact Flash Card Reader for a MAC clone user who does not have USB? I would like to connect it through parallel (printer) or SCSI port. I use MAC-OS8.0 op system. Can not upgrade to 8.5 if I want Apple support which does not support past 8.0 for clones.

Also, if there is such a device, where can it be bought?

John:

Two suggestions:

While Apple doesn't "officially" support clones above a certain OS, that doesn't mean that you can't run the OSes on your Mac. I've supported and upgraded many clones running all the way up to OS 9.0.

I'd suggest you consider upgrading to at least 8.1 since it was a free update and it fixed numerous problems that were in 8.0. See:

http://asu.info.apple.com/swupdates.nsf/artnum/n10490

for more info about the update.

Also, since you are running 8.0 you can buy a USB card (assuming your clone has a PCI bus) that would allow you to connect most USB readers. See:

Hope this helps.
