I bought a Dvd/vcd player while in the Philipines, when i get back in the US i tried to play a DVD movie on the player but it wouldn't read or play, Is there a way to play a US dvd movie on this DVD player?

At this point it's safe to conclude you have heard of region coding. If you haven't, Philippines is Region 3, and so are the legal DVD players sold there. US is region 1. To play Region 1 DVDs on that set- top you can take it to someone somewhere who, for a fee, are willing to modify it so that it plays region 1, too. Plenty of these on the web, although as expected, not too much in the US because, after all, that's where most of these movies come from.
