TMPEG problems

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with TMPEG locking up in the middle of encoding VCD. I am encoding at the higher video rate with the lower audio rate. Do not have any problems with the panasonic. Also noted that using the PC color correction, there is less fading than the TV color correction.

It may have nothing to do with TMPGEnc, or any other program. Video encoding is VERY processor intensive, and as such, when encoding, your CPU heats up greatly. If your processor gets too hot, all sorts of things may start to happen. As with any other electronic consumer device, if it keps running at too hot a temperature, eventually it'll break down. I know from experience!

What machine do you have?....If you can, send me details of your processor type, speed and the cooling system inside your computer (i.e. number of fans). Also send details of any other symptoms you may have been having. The reason why I think it could be a hardware problem, is because the symptoms you have described to me sound very similar to when my processor kept dying in the middle of video encoding. With me, other symptoms included random reboots, shutdowns, general lockups, and blank screens.

Email me and I'll see if we can rule out a hardware issue.
