AR, Forrest City Poll workers spend 15 hours handcounting Primary ballots By KENDALL OWENST-H Staff Writer
Local election results were certified Friday evening after 15 hours of handcounting each ballot. The results of the election remained the same, but the numbers changed.
"After we did the hand count, we ran the ballots back through the machines and the numbers still came up off a little, but not enough to count. We have a glitch in the computer and we don't know why it happened or why it's still happening but we have to get that fixed," said Joe Young, chairman of the St. Francis County Election Commission.
Young added, "We had three crews working hard to get this done Friday. They did wonderful work and I appreciate how hard everyone worked. The crews worked from 8 a.m. Friday morning until 11 p.m. Friday night but they didn't stop until the vote was certified. I will say that I never want to have to go through this again."
