Can't play VCD of Still Images with sound

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I've made a couple vcds now with still images (using WinOnCD 3.7 PE). The first only had still images, no audio and it played fine in PC DVD and in my standalone (Pioneer DV-C302D). Then I made one with stills and audio (single track) and it plays fine on my PC DVD, but won't on the standalone, although the standalone appears to recognize it as vcd.

I've read a couple bits in this forum that say you must have at least 2 tracks on a vcd and a small video for the standalone to recognize. Can anyone confirm? I've also read that the .dat files have to go in the mpegav directory for standalone play - if so, how can you control this? WinOnCd doesn't give me an option. I've also noticed that the audio level goes too high on the vcd and sounds distorted - anyone encounter this and know how to control. In WinOnCD, you just specify a wav file and it does the rest.

Help is appreciated. Great forum.

well i have a pioneer 606d and 525 (both homedecks). when i did a still cd with sound, the sound played but horribly distorted. So i make them with no sound and their fine. Quite a few others have had the same problem. yes it played fine with sound in my pC. Also did you Dl the 'service upgrade' for the win on cd 3.7 from their site?? if you did not what the service will add is a video 2.0 extended 9to allow you to make menus and stills, etc and a true photot cd/vcd that deos work in your dvd player. if you have some kind of unoffical version that you got a hold of, use the serial (or password0 it came with when it ask you to enter it on the site. Dont use your real email addy either.
